  4. swim trunks. that's all. not the ones down to the knees, but to mid thigh heighth. light. dry fast. have pockets. long enough to stop chaffing between thighs. they hold the middle man well.
  5. I thought baseball was a game where opponents were also humans. I don't get that feeling from the Yankees. Seattle too nice? Would you rather have neighbors from the midwest or neighbors from the northeast? I think most people would choose nice people.
  6. When I was in Europe several years ago, we were climbing this peak. About 10 other people and me put down our poles in an area we switched to ice axes. (No we were not all one group, but all climbing the same mountain). There was this Zermatt guide and his Japanese client too... Anyway, we came back down and found only my partners poles gone. We were ticked off. So we get back to the restaurant which is the starting point of the hike to the climb, and we find the Japanese dude with my partners poles. So we ask him what he the hell he was doing with my partners poles, and he said in bad English, "They were lying there, so I took them."

    Small-town life

Was this the Darrington Shell station?
  8. I still think Greg Lemond's comeback was better.
  9. thanks for the report! Stefan
  10. Oklahoma City is not a good place for an NBA team. Too many nice folk live in Oklahoma City. I don't think there is a single father there with six children born to six different women.
  11. Wow. Kudos to you battling the brush to get to the base from Canada. I would have given up at the swamp.
  12. There was nice lake where there was none on the map.
  13. I see your camera is NOT broken!

    Net Neutrality?

So don't the telecoms and cable companies and satellite companies compete against each other? If they do compete against each other, wouldn't this conspiring as stated above, be considered illegal?

    Net Neutrality?

I do not know how each and every third world rural area is operating, but yes, over time they pay for the investment, otherwise why would the company (or the government) want to put up an investment.

    Damn Capitalist!

To all those people who know more about the Gates foundation: What is the Gates foundation doing about population growth in the third world countries in cooperation with their vaccination programs? Just want to know. Thanks.
  21. Price is a big thing between me and the people who I know. The larger the price, the more we are willing to search for a better price. Brick and mortars would do well if they had, "Weekly Hot Item" stuff. Kind of like grocery stores have a highly discounted product to bring people in.
  22. I know somebody very interested in K2. I will email you. Stefan
  23. This kind of action by the drug runners puts us climbers under more scrutiny. If if ever gets too bad, they might just close Depot Creek to us.

    Net Neutrality?

Would you disagree that universal telephone service has been a substantial net economic benefit as well as saved the lives of thousands (one need only look to 911) Universal telephone service has benefited many people. I don't know about the economics of it of though if it really was beneficial. Humans have a way of being flexible. I look at third world countries now where the technology of cell phones has helped these people in definite rural areas--but they are paying for it themselves without other people subsidizing it through government intervention.

    Net Neutrality?

I philosophically disagree. Water you need to live. Electricity or some form of heat you need to live a temperature. I have always thought telephone service is NOT a required utility to live--and should NOT be a public utility.
