What a difference between two Republican and Democratic debates! Republican debates was some form of deviant cerebral midget sparing, a complete race to the bottom, and a race how many people can they actually manage to insult. Democrats talked about issues in a civil manner.

It's like that old hockey joke -- I went to a debate last night and an actual adult conversation broke out.

The GOP Strategy

true, but which was better for laughs? The Don is such an entertainer and source of stomach pain.

Well, listening to GW was entertaining, but look what happened as the result. Unfortunate fact is- we are the one paying costs of bed decision making- look at the human cost of 2 wars and the crisis in 2007-08.

I am sure he also has a huge amount of clout as a Middle East expert. Who the fuck cares, what some washed former baseball player has to say. He also campaigned for GW in 2004, so yes, ISIS wins, as GW administration created ISIS by invading Iraq and installing Maliki. If you had more then 2 brain cells in your head, you'd see how stupid you just sounded by linking this shit. Obviously you are incapable of comprehending any complex problems and going beyond talking points. Good job!

In the United States of Amnesia there seems to be a collective effort to forget from one election cycle to another how major policy decisions have had real world consequences.

Thus, we are still treated to the talking heads of the neocons such as Chaney who touted their simplistic vision of the middle east - get rid of Iraq's dictator and we will plop down a Jeffersonian Democracy on this tribal region and then, like dominos, one country after another will follow suit as their people rise up and demand a voice.

WTF? This is world politics not sixth grade social science!

Back when we invaded Iraq for no good reason I said it was the worst US world stage blunder in 100 yrs. And from the looks of things - it's playing out exactly the opposite way the neocons envisioned. Instead of rainbows and unicorns we have a growing terrorist group with influence throughout the middle east, millions of refugees fleeing countries in chaos, and a continual parade of non apologetic neocons on Faux news.

Brilliant I say, just brilliant.

Now back to the entertainment channel that is the GOP and their apparent spokesman for world events - yes, an ex-major league pitcher.

Summary of Democrat platform: things are expensive, I want them for free. Work is hard, I like that Sweden has 30 hour work weeks and massive maternity leave. I want to stay home and smoke weed all day. I'm jealous of rich people. Life's not fair.

The party of whining bitches.

How about fiscally responsible Republicans? We will wreck the economy and force middle and low class to pay for it. Trickle down economics worded lie a fucking charm.

I don't have problem with rich people, as long as they play by the same rules. However I start having a problem, when someone is trying to give me a financial buttfuck and is trying to convince me it's good for me at the same time. But to each their own. I guess KKK likes shellac syrup loads and I don't.

Yea, republican are pro life, which includes death penalty, or mass shooting with gun. I think they want to stop abortions, so they don't run out of people to kill in prisons or run out of kids to shoot at schools. But it's ok, because cheesus tells them so. And while they are at it, give them your money, because cheesus wants your money. As long as the money flows from hard working middle class to doing fuck all rich, cheesus will be happy. But if actually hard working middle and lower class starts saving their hard earned cash- that is socialism and wealth redistribution. And then cheesus is not happy.

Isn't this taken verbatim from the 2016 GOP platform??

I reckon some folks actually watch debates.

Hard to imagine clipping the dog's toenails or re-caulking the tub wouldn't take priority, but there you have it.

Meanwhile, in the real world, the ACLU just filed two lawsuits this week: One against two Spokane psychologists who helped the CIA design its illegal torture program, taught that program, then went on to torture detainees themselves. The CIA then had them evaluate the effectiveness of the program they themselves designed.

The second is against Benton County WA for its robust debtors prison program. Essentially, the county is funding itself on the backs of the indigent. They are the only problem country contacted by the ACLU that has refused to take even a single step towards system in this regard, despite being the worst offender among Washington's 39 counties. Ah well, some folks prefer the hard road.

As the BATTLE OF THE TITANS RAGES ON Fox and CNN, regular ole people get up, sip their coffee, and go make the world a better place, step by step, armed with just the facts, ma'am.

And a few basic principles, born of decency.

No street theater required.

It's interesting how it's unfolding for the republicans. Looks like the nightmare of Trump getting a nomination is slowly becoming a reality. Even according to some Republican sources, he is getting about 25-30% of the primary votes. He can probably pick a few more votes, when Carson drops out (yes, he will simply run out of money). However this is it. Regardless how you slice it or dice it, Trump will not get enough votes in general elections. One of the Republican advisors suggested that if indeed Trumps is the nominee of the party, even Texas might vote for a Democratic candidate. And that is the crux of the issue: in order to win Republican nomination, any candidate has to alienate pretty much every crucial group in general election- Hispanics, Blacks, Women and younger voters. It is also not certain if the Republican Party can even hold the majority in some House and Senate races.

Based on the R's 17 presidential candidates, the speaker of the house resignation followed by tons of fighting over the new speaker, it sure seems like the party is falling apart. It doesn't seem fixable either.

If they had their act together there would have been some back room vetting to pick a smaller number of presidential candidates and an orderly transfer of power in the house assuming a transfer was necessary.

Texas has a dirty little not-so-secret - it's going Democratic anyway thanks to it's growing hispanic population and increasing percentage of younger voters. 2020 was the estimate 3 years ago, but that could accelerate with America's rapidly changing tide of values.

America's undergoing a profound reexamining of its values with some pretty stunning results. Sure, money's still King, but the conversation's a bit more complicated these days. This is being driven from below by an increasingly tech savvy, skeptical, data driven, and connected generation - the best educated in history.

It's hard for fascism to flourish in a society bound by such a liberal bill of rights. One split into 50 different political fortresses. The tenets of fairness, collective security, and egalitarianism shine just a bit too bright for the losing side of history - the lynch mobs, chickenhawks, and grifters to take the prize.
