MarkMcJizzy Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Everyone is just going along like sheep that the block was on the second pitch of City Park. I maintain that the block was on top of the first pitch of City Park. Quote
Kimmo Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 I don't see anyone hoisting it back up there. if buckaroo was worth his weight in engineering skillz, that's exactly what he'd be doing, instead of obsessing over whether bin laden or a jd root ball knocked it off. Quote

Off_White Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Naw, you couldn't fit a bottle jack in there. Had to have been a Toyota scissors jack, yeah, that's the ticket. Quote
rob Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 So, I just got back from index, where Tom and I climbed 'zilla. MAN, I'm out of shape. Using the explosive residue swab kit I purchased for other purposes (it's a long story), I collected samples from the ledge in question, and from some of the fresh boulders nearby. As a control, I also swabbed some older sections of rock nearby that appeared uninvolved. After a quick trip down to SeaTac to visit a friend who works for the TSA, we analyzed the samples, and the results tested positive for various nitrogen based explosive residue. In other words, explosive residue was found on the back of the ledge, against the wall, and on the boulders below. The control samples did not test positive, so it cannot be old residue left from the quarry days, or whatever. I am not kidding. Somebody blew up the ledge!!!!!!!!! Quote
rob Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 I wonder if they were actually trying to vandalize the entire belay? Imagine if that ledge were gone, entirely. Quote
stevetimetravlr Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 If its a long story, we sure would like to hear it Rob. I'm calling BS, come on now... Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Could the residue have come from a 105mm? Has WSDOT turned up the volume on climbers? Quote
Kimmo Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 i was out at index for the first time in a long time, and witnessed some rock-fall in the country. it seemed like we heard some sort of explosion just before it fell. Quote

Dirtyleaf Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 It was me. I blew the felony infested yar block O'death waitin' ta happen. Someone was gonna die fer sure. Preemptive life saving block explosion. What else would it have been? Seriously. I've already met law inforcement officials for making/using illegal explosive devices. I mean, we all went on the net in our youth and ordered chemistry sets and made our own flash powder, did we not? C'mon. Quote
Dirtyleaf Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 The cops were off duty though. They came to my house days later and threatened me with felony this n' that and made my mom cry. Then I went to school. Quote
Frankazoid Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 (edited) C'mon guys...Really- Explosion test kit? Kimmo heard a boom? wtf's goin on here? Here's a true story- I came across a cougar (fully grown) at the country, as I was exiting the upperwall trail. about the begining of April. Edited May 11, 2010 by Frankazoid Quote
Kimmo Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 hey rob, i'm hoping you can test the rock-fall in the country. pm me for the exact location. this is all getting a little weird. Quote
ScottP Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 There is always a plausible explanation for everything... Quote
mkporwit Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Mods, can we get this thread moved to the Columbia Gorge forum, where this thread will feel right at home among the beatard drivel? Quote
Dirtyleaf Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 mkporwit: perhaps you should focus on the Columbia Gorge forum. Most of life's important answers can be found there. It sounds like you aren't comfy in your own skin. Maybe some pyschiatric help? Or dish some more about a rock that fell. Whoa. Sensitive subject for some. Rocks fall. Aliens. Aliens from outerspace. Maybe it was them? Maybe I was just dreaming... Quote
Crillz Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 I came across a cougar (fully grown) at the country, as I was exiting the upperwall trail. about the begining of April. Aren't all cougars full grown. Isn't that part of the criteria? Quote
