Crillz
Who else got F*cked in last night's traffic jamb on Hiway 2? I've seen that road pretty backed up before, but never that bad. It was backed up way past Index.

dberdinka
I've seen it backed up to Skykomish before. We left L-town at 3:30 yesterday hoping to beat the mess and still got stuck before Goldbar. Suckage.

Jens
I seem to get burned nearly every time I attempt a cragging getaway at Index these days. If it is an afterwork attempt-- on the way. On a weekend trip- on the way home. I've many times made it home to Seattle from 11worth over i-90 faster than some trips coming home from a day of cragging at index. As a result, I've limited my after work cragging to North Bend with the 6-8 lanes of freeway and been more inclined to ski other resorts instead of Stevens. Â I know very little, however I've heard rumors that the local businessmen's associations in both Sultan and Goldbar have contributed to the problem by blocking new construction projects, free grant money offered by the state, and stoplight changes because the gridlock is good for business. Some climbers say that it is one's civic duty to boycott the businesses in these two towns and instead wait to buy food, gas, drinks, and use the restroom until reaching Monroe. I'm sure somebody on cc.com knows the goings on.
tvashtarkatena
Â There's nothing about the pleasant little hamlets of Sultan, Startup, and Goldbar that a good B-52 strike couldn't improve. Â After they put in the first stoplight, I never stopped at any of those little shitstreaks for anything ever again. Why should I? I'm not in the market for meth. Â Skykomish still gets my biz, though.

tvashtarkatena
The little diner in downtown Skykomish is a cool joint. Home cooking in an old timey setting. Lotsa folks sayin' stuff like 'yup' and 'nope'. Â It was a real easy place to hold up. Â The hippie store on Hwy2 at the Sky turnoff has a good selection, too. DirtyHarry
That "bakery," i.e., donut shoppe, sucks, man. There's always a really long line and who wants to stand in a really long line when you're on your way to go climbing.

ivan
yesterday my boy mike thanked the good people of goldbar by disposing of his sack of human shit there - now if more folks did this we'd have a more powerful effect than some g'damn letter writing campaign! Â Unfortunately that painted a regrettable picture. Â The donut shop is medium quality but prices are low. If you want a real donut, you must go to Vietnamese people. Raindawg
On a real busy day, some of the folks in Goldbar and Sultan will sit in their yards with beer and enjoy the mayhem. A few times we've pulled off, bought some beer and joined them...and we were welcomed...and waited for the traffic to die down and then went home. Good times! Â Leave it to the left-wing hipster doofuses of cc.com to dictate what is "good" in regards to food. LOL. Â What are you doing in Sultan anyways, Prole? It couldn't be on the way to 11worth to climb, since there is no evidence you engage in that activity. Are they commie agitator meetings along Hwy 2 that you regularly attend?
