AlpineK Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Let's look at the big picture shall we. It really doesn't matter who wins the election this time. This will be the last US president of all time. Thing about it. It's 2008 add 4 years and you get 2012. Why is this significant? Watch this informative video It wouldn't be surprising if we pick a stupid president 4 years ahead of schedule. It's a sign. Quote

No. 13 Baby Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Been over a week now and the Powers That Be still won't let Palin talk to the press. . . . and people fall for this smokescreen! Quote
mattp Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 I fixed the link, maybe. Gov. Sarah Palin is taking the wrong approach to Troopergate. She should be practicing the open and transparent, ethical and accountable government she promised when running for governor and boasts about now that she's on the national stage. Instead, Gov. Palin has begun stonewalling the Legislature's attempt to get the bottom of allegations that she, her family or staff violated ethical or state personnel rules. . . . Quote
mattp Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 In July, when legislators started talking about conducting an investigation, Palin denied any wrongdoing and said she welcomed an investigation. "Hold me accountable," she said. The Legislature took her up on that offer. But this week, she basically told the Legislature, "Never mind." Palin's lawyer has asked the Legislature to drop its investigation. . . . Quote

mattp Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 The Legislature's investigation is supposed to be wrapped up by Oct. 31. That's obviously poor timing from the standpoint of the McCain-Palin presidential campaign, coming just a few days before the national election. Instead of trying to delay the whole thing, Palin should take a cue from U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens, who asked that his corruption trial be moved up so it would be completed well ahead of the November general election. Voters deserve to know the outcome of Sen. Stevens trial and the investigation into Palin. When this investigation into Troopergate started, Gov. Palin's response was refreshingly open. Since she became the Republican candidate for vice president, her approach has changed for the worse. America deserves the same openness and ethics from vice-presidential candidate Palin that she promised to Alaska voters in 2006. Quote

mkporwit Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 A nice opinion piece that neatly summarizes my unease with the whole hullabaloo about Palin's family values stance... Quote
mkporwit Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 If you can't defeat the candidate on issues, sidetrack the debate with legal bullshit. You were all in favor of it for Kwame Kilpatrick In fairness, the Kwame Kilpatrick affair seems to have had more meat on its bones than, say, Bill Clinton's impeachment attempt. Even the Democrats were starting to realize that he was an albatross around their neck and were about to start removal proceedings. This saves them a prolonged media circus that may have negatively affected which way Michigan went in the national election. Quote
kevbone Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Five days later, the Sarah Palin story is huge, and it seems evangelicals are unanimous in commending Palin's "pro-life and pro-family values What does this mean? I mean really......I am a liberal and I am VERY pro family. Quote
