foraker Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Â I haven't found a downside to riding/owning this thing yet. Â Stop making me want one of those! Quote

lizard_brain Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 IN the hospital they call them donorcycles  I keep wanting to ride them, but haven't since I got hit head on by a car while riding one years ago. Like drugs... tempting but not worth it. Quote

tvashtarkatena Posted September 12, 2007 Author Posted September 12, 2007 Advantages of Motorcycles: Â You break down, and you only have to wait until the next rider comes along. OK, the next Harley rider. Â 10 cars waiting for some geek to turn left in heavy traffic? You won't be one of them. Â Downtown parking? You can ride around the lift gate of most covered parking garages. Â Four times the gas mileage of an SUV. Â Fout times the acceleration so you can get away from SUVs. Â A fourth the cost of an SUV. Â Sidewalks are an option. Â All the visibility of a space walk. Hopefully, you'll remain attached to the ship. Â Makes you a better driver. Or a dead one. Your choice. Â No better way to learn about hypothermia. Â What other mode of transport affords the excitement of dealing with an angry wasp in your shorts at 90 mph? Â Muffler burns. Who needs tattoos? Â You're never going to ride a war pony into battle, but this is the next best thing. Â All five senses are engaged. In traffic, you can smell when someone's not properly digesting a burrito. Quote
billcoe Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 (edited) Nice call and nice list Tharsh. Â Probably best to hold off the disadvantage list for now? Edited September 12, 2007 by billcoe Quote

Hendershot Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 I have a 2001 Aprilia SL1000 Falco. Just got some saddle bags which fit my bivy and climbing gear perfectly. It is the only way to ride to WA Pass. Quote
foraker Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 All five senses are engaged. In traffic, you can smell when someone's not properly digesting a burrito. Â The only down side to this is that, unless you train yourself otherwise, every weird smell sets off an alarm in your head that something is wrong with your bike. Quote

counterfeitfake Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Â I got to drive a student's C5 around Pacific. That car is alarmingly fast. Made my little RX-7 feel like a Razor scooter. Quote

I have laid down every single bike I've owned. I honestly believe that if you don't go past the limits of your vehicle, you don't know those limits.  It was fun finding those limits on my Vette, but I am going to have to replace my valence and buff out a few spots.  It's worth it though!
