arms, feet and heads chopped off; blood splattered...can't remember what movie had more carnage than this one. Kind of a cross between spaghetti westerns and japanimation. classic revenge story. almost like anime brought to big screen with live actors, though one part of the story is told through comics graphics

waiting for vol 2. what you think?

Good plot, excellent storytelling by Tarantino, good camera shots and technique, though kind of kitschzy(campy?) at times, oh and Uma yum yum

The friend I saw KBv1 with postulated that the reason why they made that one scene in animation instead of real life actors is that it would be distasteful to make a child actor play such a gory emotional scene.

I don't know, seems plausible to me.

Actually Josh, KB is chock full of references to other movies. He even pays tribute to some freaky 70's drive in slasher flick titled "They Call Her One Eye"

But yeah, I don't think he's a genius, he's just had too many cocaine laced gumdrops.

Definitely entertaining, a bit over the top tho. Tarantino isn't the genius a lot of people seem to think he is, but it still was worth my $7.

I concur. QT is over-rated but still entertaining.

somebody tell that to the dumbass film majors that i am in school with. they are spoiled little rich kids with director's cuts dvd's and have nothing so say. they are like 6 year olds with 144 different colors of crayons. tarentino is one of them. just copies everything from every cinematographer of note and casts it off as his. rolleyes.gif
