Zenolith Posted February 5, 2002 Posted February 5, 2002 At any given time there are about half as many guests online as registered users. Are you people scared of becoming a named user? Don't you feel guilty for using all our blather for your entertainment and not giving anything back? You should. Quote
vegetablebelay Posted February 5, 2002 Posted February 5, 2002 And, it's funny to see all the Guests who try to reply to a topic or start a new one. Quote
Zenolith Posted February 5, 2002 Author Posted February 5, 2002 It is funny. Someone did that a minute after I posted that. Quote
Juneriver Posted February 5, 2002 Posted February 5, 2002 I just figured that guest#1, Guest#2, etc. were more of Caveman's avatars. Quote
Dan_Larson Posted February 5, 2002 Posted February 5, 2002 How is guest any different than the made up screen names used by so many here? Quote
To_The_Top Posted February 5, 2002 Posted February 5, 2002 A guest might be a known poster checking out the site from a different computer, ie a work computer verses a home (aka the first signed on computer). Once the poster signs on from the second computer he/she can put in the password for the original name and post a response, or lurk. I have seen myself on as guest at work, but my name when signing on at home, shows my original name. This is all good unless you have several avatars, of course. TTT Quote
johnny Posted February 5, 2002 Posted February 5, 2002 How do you guys see when a guest tries to reply? I see them listed as present and lurking but what am I missing??? As to why they just lurk, Was it Woody Allen who said he "would never belong to any organization that would have me as a member" Quote
allthumbs Posted February 6, 2002 Posted February 6, 2002 this is a rough crowd around here johnny. lots of comedians here. that's why i only lurk and never post. i wouldn't want to look foolish. that's best left to the "rat pack'. Quote
sobo Posted February 6, 2002 Posted February 6, 2002 quote: As to why they just lurk, Was it Woody Allen who said he "would never belong to any organization that would have me as a member" johnny,That remark has been attributed to Groucho Marx Quote
mtngrrrl Posted February 6, 2002 Posted February 6, 2002 i think woody quoted groucho in annie hall. Quote
allison Posted February 6, 2002 Posted February 6, 2002 I'll tell you what I think: This board is an extremely entertaining place to lurk. I have been lurking for weeks. A good sturdy flame suit might come in handy with this crowd. That's what makes it entertaining, but sometimes it's more fun to watch you guys slam each other around than get into the fray. This is my first post. You guys are a riot. Quote

Chamonix dude go to France and you'll hear the locals dissin on that overprice tourist town. You would be better off picking La Grave for your comparison. But either way expect a posse of Ballardites coming down to T town to teach your punk ass a lesson. Quote
Dru Posted February 6, 2002 Posted February 6, 2002 if tacoma is chamonix that makes chilliwack zermatt and me rich! Quote

Gordonb Posted February 6, 2002 Posted February 6, 2002 I am not a guest, but I am a lurker. The reason I lurk is that I don't feel I have much to contribute except spray (and not much of that) I am still a sport climber trying to build strength and skill to get me onto real climbs. Spouting about the top roping I have done, or the stupid free solo's I did as a teenager 20 years ago don't really add much to the conversations. Quote

Well, that hasn't stopped Trask - the only time he climbs is when he gets out of bed Quote
