mattp Posted July 16, 2003 Posted July 16, 2003 Don't sweat it, marylou. Like I said, they have the back room or whatever it is reserved for us. We won't be right there next to the big screen TV with all the smokers. Please do your part and leave your smokes at home, and everything will be just fine. Quote

Kiwi Posted July 16, 2003 Posted July 16, 2003 Well I'm back from Kort Haus and I give the place a thumbs down. Slow service, mediocre food, and they even messed up Guinness. Quote
thelawgoddess Posted July 16, 2003 Posted July 16, 2003 huh? yeah, it was slow. but we kind of overran his bar. and what can you expect when you pay $1.99 for a burger? i thought it was decent enough. sorry; i have to give it a nice to see everyone! Quote
AlpineK Posted July 16, 2003 Posted July 16, 2003 I had a good time; the food wasn't gourmet but just fine, and we did overwhelm the one guy working there. Despite that the dude was in a good mood. I give it Fun time and fun disfunctional stories Quote
JayB Posted July 16, 2003 Posted July 16, 2003 Anyone with an accent that thick is clearly an Al Queda operative. I say deport his haggis-eating, code-writing ass back to Scawtlund !!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
MtnChicken Posted July 16, 2003 Posted July 16, 2003 ... I give it a and i didn't get rabies. It just doesn't get much better than that. Nice to meet ya folk! Quote
Toast Posted July 16, 2003 Posted July 16, 2003 Looks like mixed reviews on the Kort Haus. Let's see if we can sort this out: So Suck or Not So SuckSo SuckBlows GoatsI'd come backThis Place Rocks! Quote
chris_w Posted July 16, 2003 Posted July 16, 2003 I like the place. Wasn't too smokey, had great beer selection, looked like a good menu, Erik the bartender was really cool. Did I also mention he would through in a couple of pitchers next time we come back? Quote
Attitude Posted July 16, 2003 Posted July 16, 2003 Hey Toast, your poll is a little ambiguous. Some people here think that 'blows goats' is a good thing.... Quote

Kiwi Posted July 16, 2003 Posted July 16, 2003 Guess I'm just upset that they had the worst pint of Guinness I've ever had. Quote
mattp Posted July 16, 2003 Posted July 16, 2003 Sorry Kiwi, but I too give it a I don't know what you ate, but my burger was as good as most any bar food except some of those fern places that have been soundly rejected by this crew. Yes, the guy was a little overwhelmed and at times he could not be flagged down very easily. But I only had to wait ten minutes for my food, and that was no worse than what I remember from, say, the Ballroom or Owl and Thistle -- and the guy was friendly about it. Virtually no smoke problem either. Quote
JGowans Posted July 16, 2003 Posted July 16, 2003 Despite Greg strong-arming us into the Kort Haus, I'd also give it the - Good food - Plenty beer - No snotty waitresses that think their shit doesn't stink Quote

Just curious, Greg_W... is that true, even with a CWP? It would seem logical to prohibit weaponry in a drinking establishment, but I just don't know what the limits are on a CWP. Your response appreciated. CWP or no, the RCW prevents guns in bars. To me, this is a bullshit move to restrict carry, but whatever. I obey the laws. The law in MN just changed where you are free to carry guns in public places. The bar i work in took down their signs prohibiting guns on the premises. Yet last night serving drinks in bottles was not allowed (per request of the band). Guess the band prefered being shot than getting mauled with glass bottles. Cant wait for the IceT And bodycount show. Quote
allthumbs Posted July 16, 2003 Posted July 16, 2003 I disagree with Greg on this ONE point. I'd much prefer to get drunk in a bar without having to worry about getting shot. Booze and guns just don't mix. Quote

You can only get a good pint of that stuff at the source. I thought it was a good place for pub club. It was a bit crowded just before 9 when I took off to hear some good music, but the guy was way friendlier than most of the other bars we've taken over recently. Compared to the chick's attitude at the Owl and Thistle last week he gets Quote

Interesting change in the law in MN, carolyn, given the current times we live in. I posed the original question (to Greg) because of an experience I had in a bar in Houston many years ago. Back then (~early 80s) it was legal to carry, unconcealed, knives and guns into bars. Hell, you could even drive down the road with an open container, as long as you weren't drunk if the DPS pulled you over. Quote
