There just isn't any good female equivalent of the word "guy" that is equally casual, age-neutral, and marital status-neutral. "Woman" is too formal. "Lady" is too genteel and doesn't describe me or anyone I know in the least. "Girl" should be reserved for those under age 12. "Gal" sounds too Texan. "Babe" is too objectifying to be used in daily conversation. Did I miss any? Quote
