  1. 42g/meter 8.0 isn't light, and why not just use a regular 8mill lead line? Thanks...but no thanks
  2. why would you need a 100m? does he lead on it?
  3. Hey Mike! Maybe they are making different thicknesses now and that dude got quoted a thicker line? What is the diameter of the alpine escape rope...and yeah if you have the time, what's the weight? I agree with you about the tangles and "stuckable" nature being super unsafe in the mountains, and in a place like patagonia, worht the extra weight. For something with a few double rope raps where you could still manage to get off, then a 5.5 is ok.
  4. thanks i'll look into it. seems kinda heavy (the esprit) however
  5. sorry if this has been discussed. I haven't been paying attention to cord technology at all. Last I used was a 6mm 60mm perlon rap line (can you say sketchy?) or an 8mm static haul line. price aside, what cool fancy cords are out there for use as a super skinny tag line to rappel from that are a wee bit safer than 6mm perlon?
  6. i'm still working on my skin suit "IT PUTS THE LOTION IN THE GODDAMNED BASKET OR IT GETS THE HOSE!!"
  7. awesome info, thanks!
  8. i'd just say fuck it and buy a set made right
  9. A lot of cool fabrics at the show. Columbia's omniheat is actually pretty cool - it would be interested to see some of it applied to the climbing market...polartech will be coming out with something similar soon. As for polartech, they kinda glossed over their whole "powershield pro" fabric - i mean only two or three companies used this so called award winning fabric. why? Now neoshell. The stats on it look pretty cool. Goretex has their new active shell which I found out little about. But gore usually makes a pretty good product so maybe it will compete with the neoshell. Apparantly mountain gear also has a new highly breathable waterproof fabric too. finally one other very cool thing I saw, although I haven't a clue if it's awesome or retarded is the Argon Gas insulated jackets. of course their hype makes them sound amazing. ohhh how much fun it is to wade through hype and bullshit at the OR show!
  10. The only two methods I use are sacroiliac blocks to take pressure off the discs, And a mild form of pumping/traction on the occiput to alleviate headaches. Both really help patients. I know nothing about their other treatments, but like all "named" techniques,, little outside research has been done, everythig is based on theory, $$ for being "certified", and a cure-all vibe surrounds it.
  11. how bad does your kid react? if it's life threatening, then that's a pretty good excuse. a lot of times, kids outgrow allergies. I've had more than my share of immunizations. I work p/t at a lab sequencing dna of highly virulent diseases. is your kid allergic to eggs?
  12. i'd find out what my kid was allergic to, wait, try a single shot, and go from there
  13. FYI, I'm a chiropractor and I strongly believe that everyone should receive all of their vaccinations. The notion that babies immune systems will be overtaxed is absurd. 1st the virus and microorganism particles are attenuated or just pieces of the whole...not living. 2nd the second a baby is born it is exposed to about a trillion or so times more organisms than the shots it is about to receive. Study after study has found no link to autism or any harmful side effect, especially when compared to the risk of gettting the illness the shots are for! If your kid gets a disease because you didn't vaccinate him/her you should be put in jail, especially if they wind up infecting others. As for the additives...there isn't enough a.)at once b.) over a period of time to do damage. One friggin' crappy packed meal, water bottle, or outside harmful toxin (like smog or polluted water/fish) will probably triple the neurotoxicity of whatever is in the shot. There are cases of harmful reactions, but given enough people, you'll find someone allergic to water. Bottom line. Don't be an asshole, vaccinate your kids
  14. i've gone through 5 puffball (nanopuffs) so far and they get better everytime...plus refreshed for free at Patagonia

  21. Its been a long time since I've had a crampon fit issue, but as suggested I think I just beat the toe bail into submission with a hammmer and tightened them up a notch. My main issues have always been with boot fit and fear...or the inability to try on a selection of boots at a local shop....and weakness from not enough consistant time on the ice
  22. let me play devil's advocate... who cares as long as they don't fall off on lead and don't rattle around enough to notice?
  23. go to whole foods and look for vegie drinks like alive, etc... I really like nanogreens but i think you gotta get it from a health care provider with an account with them.
  24. way to go!
