  1. I was happy to get a drivers license at 16 so I could drive to a trailhead with a climber my own age. I'd pick up any job I could to make money while not taking away from good weather conditions for climbing. The main goal was climb a lot. After a few years I'd be trying to earn money and save as much as possible to go on longer trips to climb routes in the Canadian Rockies. I had a tick list. I devoted my free time and money to climbing routes I thought were cool, not just summitting whatever peak would be impressive. Because of this I made friends with folks who had really big ideas or were part of them. One such fellow was on a team headed to Everest. My friend decided prior to the set expedition date that he had lost interest in climbing Everest. He new me and what I'd been climbing and offered to put me in as a replacement to the group. I thought for a couple days and then went for it. The whole thing was expensive, but not anywhere as expensive as the expeditions I met over there full of guided clients. If climbing something big like that is your dream then I'd say just climb a lot of things and meet other folks into climbing. Start locally then start expanding the geographic area where you climb routes. Push you altitude experience, but don't try and make huge leaps all at once. A big list of successful ascents and routes will help you a lot when you apply for a grant. The bottom line is climb stuff that looks cool and fits you budget. Don't set your goals based on what others say you have to do to be a really impressive climber.
  2. A friend ended up taking the opposite route due to back pains caused by her previously unaltered breasts.
  3. Thanks! The last couple days I was thinking this would be an excellent subject to talk about.
  4. isn't that a Brian Eno album? [video:youtube]2Divj-x_BFc&feature=related [video:youtube]B1wFd201Rbw
  5. Yep it was fun! Poor suckas all your pow is bye bye cman [img:center]http://www.danbbs.dk/~rep/pictures/animation/skianim.gif[/img]
  6. Bummer That's too bad. I know the Aneroid area and cabin. It's a great place for skiing and quite scenic.
  7. They need to have a current active credit/debit card embedded into 3 body parts.
  8. Cool pictures Paul. Without your post I would have assumed that somebody had the wrong Washington. You mean DC don't you?
  9. If you get some cams like this you may want to bring a chainsaw rope winch. A few porters may come in handy too.

Lots of adoring fans here. Only a heartbeat away. 11. We did that trick skiing around Pebble Creek one time. One helicopter flight from the Pemberton airfield to Pebble Creek with a shuttle back for the rest of the group parked on the Railroad Pass road. It's much better than two flights to Pemberton plus we could leave vehicles where we could ski to.
  12. I've used the skin wax for a while. It works pretty good, but you do have to put it on before your skin gets glopped up.
  13. Coffee helps prevent skin cancer. The more coffee you drink the better. Tea is only half ass at this ability. Out in the mountains a lot? why not chug good instant coffee. Article Plus when you're at the beach and you see this [img:center]http://www.telegraph.co.uk/telegraph/multimedia/archive/01294/1402portugalhi1_1294550c.jpg[/img] Wouldn't it be better to quickly have some good instant kind before heading out to the water and the sun?
  14. Looks like a fun time. That area is cool.

I really liked 2112 in Jr High. Later I thought they were alright but nothing that amazing. Of course when I saw them in the one episode with the Trailer Park Boys they were fantastic. [video:youtube]IT8i3oePpiA [video:youtube]W7Kzp9vDNCo
  16. There are a number of gym climbers that seem unaware of the existence of outdoor climbing.
  17. Yeah not bad advice. Just for clarification that would be: Fuck Another Guide (FAG).

Coming right up... sort of... it's the incredible, reusable, eco friendly Wallypop cloth wipes Sounds pretty eco. I see they do note to wash the wipes separately from the rest of your clothing. That sounds like a good tip. I do wonder if you should buy a separate washing machine and label it the shit rag washer.
  19. I guess they did figure out that they needed to market their, "climbing," products with well known climbers. Ed V and Seth may be happy they've got a sucka to pay them.
  20. Back in the 70s EB would have huge sales much like the ones REI does. They still had stuff that might actually be useful in the outdoors.
  21. Ouch that sucks.

sponger? man, all you need is a bucket of water and your hand! Yes where everybody wipes with water and their left hand. It's unclean to use your left hand for any other purpose. Speaking as a lefty I hate this idea.

We all need to use and reuse a sponge.
  24. Interesting. My dad still has a couple down parkas from Eddie Bauer that he used on some big glaciers a long time ago. He liked them back in the day. Now they might belong in an amusing history museum.
  25. This isn't on par with the stylish folks Raindawg is talking about, but me and a friend did watch Cman climb the finger crack at Stone Gardens clean. He was on top rope, but we did leave a sport loop. It was rad just being there.
