A time out from this stuff might be a good thing.

I've never hiked the West Coast trail. I have done a day hike from near Bamfield out to the Pacific Coast. It isn't, "burly," like climbing is defined. It is really cool though. We had to get a key to a canoe chain lock, hike, canoe, then hike over a ridge. The beaches there are spectacular and worth the effort. There may be hamburger stands on the West Coast Trail, but there was none of that where we went. No other people either. Of course things may be different since the 70s.

Yeah you need to be careful about picking lines. There are a few big cliffs above Snow Lake. -

Yep. Standing still in cold weather kind of sucks, but I think we all got over it.

I'm sure Pink would never say it out loud, but he does appear to dislike blacks.

Yeah! How about the folks directing parking for the event. They did a super job.

A more important question to debate: Why does Pink Stink? It's coming out of my computer.

If you were truly hardcore you'd go for cabbage rolls and coffee. Not that Irish, but so what. [video:youtube]4HK2vUv89cw

Yeah another CC type has an event that evening. Forced to pick I'll have to say no to PC this Thursday. Other Thursdays I'd go.

Ya know saying stuff like I get the feeling I'm listening to a big fan of white meat.

Nope. We talked about it, but we were a little unsure of Avy conditions so no. Obviously lunger skied it that day, so we were a little too safe. That's ok the powder was good and I've skied the slot a few times. Actually it ended up being a good thing. I had some issues with my dynafit boots. I lost the little metal piece that locks a heel into the binding. I was skiing with less control of my left boot. Skiing the Slot requires a better boot/ski attachment.

I was happy to get a drivers license at 16 so I could drive to a trailhead with a climber my own age. I'd pick up any job I could to make money while not taking away from good weather conditions for climbing. The main goal was climb a lot. After a few years I'd be trying to earn money and save as much as possible to go on longer trips to climb routes in the Canadian Rockies. I had a tick list. I devoted my free time and money to climbing routes I thought were cool, not just summitting whatever peak would be impressive. Because of this I made friends with folks who had really big ideas or were part of them. One such fellow was on a team headed to Everest. My friend decided prior to the set expedition date that he had lost interest in climbing Everest. He new me and what I'd been climbing and offered to put me in as a replacement to the group. I thought for a couple days and then went for it. The whole thing was expensive, but not anywhere as expensive as the expeditions I met over there full of guided clients. If climbing something big like that is your dream then I'd say just climb a lot of things and meet other folks into climbing. Start locally then start expanding the geographic area where you climb routes. Push you altitude experience, but don't try and make huge leaps all at once. A big list of successful ascents and routes will help you a lot when you apply for a grant. The bottom line is climb stuff that looks cool and fits you budget. Don't set your goals based on what others say you have to do to be a really impressive climber.

A friend ended up taking the opposite route due to back pains caused by her previously unaltered breasts.

Thanks! The last couple days I was thinking this would be an excellent subject to talk about.
