Exactly. I've skied plenty of places like the bc out of Whitewater (Nelson BC). Lots of folks skin and snowshoe. The tracks are distinct, and it's common to correct folks about the right uptrack for them. It takes some effort to break a skin track. If you choose slowshoes pick a different line. True there are some unavoidable conflicts like the waterfall zone on the Phantom Slides, but once through the confined track zone there's no reason to ruin the rest of the skin track.

Yeah, folks can lay down some shitty skin tracks. I'm more inclined to say make your own better ones. Sometimes not, but most times you can do it without trashing the downhill slopes. If we were going to get into idiots on backcountry snow, the king idiot is the snow shoe crowd. Yes at one time it was a good way to travel on snow, but a long time ago folks came up with the ski. People are set in their ways, but if you are too lazy to learn to ski then stay the fuck out of the skin track. A few skiers worked to break a trail. It's for skiers. I know if you're on slow shoes you think you can cut your work load breaking a trail by taking advantage of a skin track. Sorry folks you picked a crappy tool pay the price. Don't screw up the skin track.

The WAC used to have some big group events on the upper crags.

Yes I believe they do sell lumber. You can contact Jim and ask him to confirm that. If for some reason he says no I have a friend in the Maple Vally area who has a variety of species of trees cut as lumber. He doesn't mill them as nice as Urban Hardwoods does, but you can go look at what he has to see if it fits with what you want. Send me a PM and I can get you contact info.

2/10: Dr. Andy Luks - Safe Travel at High Altitude

The Mounties are now close to my place. I have no reason not to go. -
If you've never heard of it and are in the Seattle area I really recommend visiting Urban Hardwoods. Urban Hardwoods Here's one of many pictures of the stuff they have. Walnut Table [img:center]http://www.urbanhardwoods.com/dbImages/lg555-0.jpg[/img] All the wood comes from trees removed in the Seattle area. I've done the cuts on a couple picks the owner Jim lifted with a crane. The one I remember best was a large black walnut tree in Madison Park we removed for a client. The owner Jim is a great guy. He is not a logger or work with loggers, so he's not out roaming the city looking for trees to kill or soliciting that kind of work. Typically trees come down due to assessed tree risk, plans for site development, or inappropriate species in a location.

Hey Fairweather did you hear Sarah Palin is looking for a presidential election committee staff for 2012. I bet you'd fit in well.

You like Pantera...therefore you like crap. Next thing you know you'll be talking about how great Sammy Hagar is.

That was an exciting game. Right down to the last minute. I didn't back either team, but I like games like that. [img:center]http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2009/02/01/sports/02super-600.jpg[/img] Steelers Win

Not strictly beer About 15 years ago or so. Skiing at A Basin on my own I skied down the First Alley. Since I knew the area well enough I decided to stop in at the somewhat hidden shack part way down the alley. What do I find but a frozen Guinness. I stuck that in my jacket since it wasn't drinkable. I then scored when I found an abandoned film canister. I was really happy then. I had to thaw the beer later, but that didn't bother me at the time.

If we're talking Southern music. [video:youtube]Uzae_SqbmDE

There is one good thing I got out of this. Kevbone sure has a lot of horseshit about Pantera and Hot For Teacher. Inspite of that crap Sobo inspired me to do a search for Ottmar Liebert. I don't believe I've heard him before, but I like what I just heard. Thanks Sobo that's a good find. Now back to Kev and more yammering about a love for crappy music. At the very least try listening to somebody like Jeff Beck.

It is exceedingly difficult to perform any action upon that which does not exist. You'll need a specialist [video:youtube]IIlKiRPSNGA

That is a nice line and cool photos. Maybe next time.

I suggest seeing a doctor. I think you need surgery.

I know, but that's all I have.

The Republican used to have people like Eisenhower and Dan Evans. One might not agree with their decisions and politics, but at least they were respectable leaders. Now for the most part Republicans are a bunch of religious nut jobs. They talk tax cutting, but in the same breath talk about tons of new spending (debt) to engage in the latest hip new war. Right now it seems like they are choosing an ineffective way to expand their base. We'll see what happens, but I believe they have a ton of reorganization that they have not even confronted.

Hot For Teacher Not horrible, but not worthy of being on a best of list. You seem to be so into guitar, but you fail to mention a lot of great guitar players. You've probably never heard of them. Going through my albums (yes albums) Here's a Few. Al Di Meola - Elegant Gypsy Phil Manzanera - Primitive Guitar, Diamond Head Adrian Belew - Twang Bar King, Lone Rhino (and newer King Crimson) Steve Hackett - Defector Steve Howe - Anything by Yes Most of these folks played with a a number of bands. They just happened to put out some solo stuff. BTW Neil does a number of great solos. Maybe not the fast metal crap you seem to be into. Just to make you happy lets talk about the Scorps. Amusing stuff from high school no doubt, but come on. [video:youtube]rB8HudfbaTE Now here is good guitar [video:youtube]gIeerZFSIEE

I've got Interior Ranges of British Columbia 1971 by the AAC and Interior Ranges of British Columbia South 1977 by the AAC and ACC. The 71 version says I hope that helps.

Anyone who doesn't like Neil is an idiot. Once again Kevbone reaffirms what everybody already knows.

No matter how good you are or how non extreme the slopes you ski are you can still suffer accidents that you don't just limp away from. Sometimes accidents don't sound that bad. Believe it or not your brain plays a major role in how your body functions. I can tell you a unpleasant story.
