  1. As others have stated, park in the lot, walk back to the highway and follow it west until you are just past the spire. There is a trail leading right to the base. You only need one rope and a couple draws and stoppers. Its about 5.4ish.
  2. I've had Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile. Verizon has the best coverage in the PNW.
  3. I've seen several people skiing from the summit on the Spur
  4. Your social retardation really knows no limits.
  5. Sobo moved to Enumclaw?
  6. I've ice climbed in T2's and sabertooths for years. They are fine for most things you will encounter on Hood.
  7. Meadows has been trying to expand their permit area for probably as long as they have been in operation.
  8. I have an olympus that is waterproof I bought for paddling and snorkeling. The picture quality is so-so but its small and tough and perfect for watersports. I have had three canons now and they have all been good-quality, reliable cameras. The most recent one, I dropped at the top of a staircase and watched it bounce down two flights. I figured it was dead but I am still using it to this day and it works fine. I'd buy the SD990 if I was in the market today.
  9. Sounds like a spicy climb. I am curious though, it sounds like you retro-bolted an existing line. Did you get the blessing of the FA? Not trying to start a bolt discussion--its Smith for crissakes where there are bolts everywhere.
  10. BDEL gave me a discount on a replacement helmet when the bike-style foam helmet (from them--I forget the model) I was wearing in an ice fall was destroyed, thus saving my bacon.
  11. Nice--I was on the other side in McCully skiing the freshies.
  12. If you are attempting to be funny, McJizzy, you are failing miserably.

What genera of cannabis was used in the execution of that climb?
  17. People were getting stuck and dying on these same roads long before GPS technology was ever available.

DFA disappeared right about the time someone outed his real identity. Coincidence? I do miss his contributions.
  19. Lots of great restaurants in Missoula too
  20. It generally snows ONCE a year in Portland (if that) and usually only only lasts a day or two (last year being the obvious exception). Thats hardly time for anyone living here for any length of time to develop enough expertise to drive in those conditions. Additionally, since very few people are actually FROM here and you have a mish-mash of driving behaviors from across the country its no surprise to me that a little snow wreaks complete havoc on the city. Add to that a healthy dose of media-induced hysteria, every one with a car jammed for the highways to get home.
  21. Biking was even faster
  22. I agree with Billbob--more often than not when I have gone in there they have been out of registration cards/permits. The ability to print one out online would be great, as well as checking back in remotely for those times when you stumble back to the car and forget to check back in.
  23. And yet I am hauled out and spend some quality time with the INS every time I re-enter the good old US of A because I happen to have the same name as a fugitive who has been on the run for 10 years.
  24. it was bad enough to keep me awake when I needed to be-like a national enquirer trying to be Tolstoy.
