  1. The fact that those guys are eating at Wendys is argument enough for a raise for military personnel.
  2. I once heard Dan Quayle referred to as the Barney Fife of the Bush Administration.
  3. They earlier party (Smith and partner) thought they were on the West Face. At least thats what he told me when I gave him pics of his rescue.
  4. I hope he serves you well.
  5. I've bought stuff from Fish a couple of times. Never any problem: fast, friendly and personable. As a matter fo fact, on a duffel I ordered they called me to find out what colors I wanted. A few years later I sent it back for repairs--which they did gratis. Its been over a year since I did any bidness with Mssr. Walling but I never had any problems whatsoever. Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Perhaps he has a shitty employee? Its a pretty small shop. Still no excuse for that kind of service though. His website has lots of useful information on it.
  6. The world is my ashtray
  7. Sure isn't. I was out there the weekend they found those last two guys who ripped their belay. Got some pics of the rescue. Luckily these two survived. My condolences to the families and friends in their time of sorrow.
  8. Bush was piloting a straw up his nose in the Guard.
  9. I thought Kerry was trying to get the jarhead to pull his finger.
  10. My personal worst: My modeling career was brief but oh so green.
  11. My kid was an honor student at the Oregon State Correctional Facility.

    Got MILF?

    Work it baby, work it.
  13. Cluck's right. Two bivvys?!?!? Way to lay siege!
  14. Hey Mark--did you used to work at the Bagdad?
  15. Sign me up too. I can carpool from Portland if anyone needs a ride.
  16. I take it you are going with Bush then and his Man on Mars agenda?
  17. I stand corrected Fairweather. Thank you. The scoreboard still tilts towards Kerry's prowess on the bike. I just read an article yesterday about Bush falling off his bike again. I wish I got as much vacation time as Bush.
  18. At least Kerry can ride a bicycle without falling off.
  19. I saw Black Sabbath a couple years ago. If ever there were spokesmen for why large-screen monitors should NOT be placed in a stadium, these were the guys. Flaccid man-boobies somehow detracted from the ambience.
  20. I had a meniscal tear several years ago. Doc told me at the time that I didn't HAVE to have surgery but that I would eventually need it as the tear got worse. It will not heal itself. I didn't have any pain from the tear so I sucked it up for a while but in the end I am really glad I got the surgery. Its a relatively minor procedure and I was back to biking, running, etc pretty quickly. This subject has come up before--a search might help you find more information. Rob
  21. The Portland Marathon is well organized and a lot of fun. The course itself is relatively flat, with the only uphill being a gentle rise to the St. Johns Bridge. The rest is flat, until you reach the gentle downhill slope leading into downtown portland. The year I ran it, I tried to follow the recommended training goals but gave up pretty quickly and just ran as much as I could. 2 weeks before the race I ran my one and only 20-mile training run. I felt fine the entire race and was actually surprised by how much energy I had to finish. I kept hearing horror stories about people shutting down at the 20-mile mark. In the end I wished that I had pushed it a bit harder. Pay attention to your body.
  22. Downtown Portland.
  23. Yeah, I enjoyed that 5.8 pitch so much I even pulled on gear to get through it. Less than solid rock was not inspiring me to be terribly bold, in spite of having solid rock when you needed it. All in all, I would recommend this route as fun and aesthetic.
