Rough stuff Eric. I just got back from 3 weeks in Peru, eating and drinking without a care in the world. Zero intestinal problems. Three days after I get back home, go for a long bike ride and drink three glasses of tap water on return. Two days later I am curled up in the fetal position experiencing the love of which you describe. After 4 days of that I started taking cipro and immodium. Sealed things up nicely. Scary part was shitting out liquid which was exactly the same shade of the gatorade I drank just beforehand. Enjoy!

Another vote for motion sensor lighting. Where do you live that people steal plants from you? There was a recent article in the Oregonian about two citizens who busted a guy who was dumping garbage in NW Portland over by Gunderson (right near the waste transfer station). They followed the guy, called the cops and the cops ticketed him when he came out of the restaurant he was in. I think the key is to create a paper trail by calling the cops NOW so they have it on record. You can't use deadly force to defend your property but you can use deadly force if you are "in imminent danger of bodily harm." "I thought he was going to beat me with that Rhodie officer so I shot him."

Imagine the reaction when you file an EIS on land you bought noting your intention of creating a 300tf deep pit. I can envision your lawyer putting the down payment on his own island now. I agree with Ivan. Doing that slog up the southside in August is not very aesthetic. Do the Sunshine. If you have ever done the H2C before you know what you are up against--I would NOT do this climb before the relay. And chances are, you won't feel mucch like doing it after the relay either.

I remember those trash cans at the Butte as well. I think they lasted all of a week. There was also signage put there at the same time indicating climbers below. Clearly that was effective.

Accessing the PCT trailhead to Three Fingered Jack from Hoodoo meant parking your car on the shoulder as of two weeks ago (i.e. the parking lot was snowed in).

Give that a try and let us know how that works out. In Oregon, those photo radar vans are manned with a uniformed officer. There are unmanned photo traffic surveillance stations but those are for catching people running red lights. If you decide to give that a go I recommend using a vehicle with side-impact airbags.
