  1. drove by yesterday. Looks like most of those lines have melted out. Damn warm weather!
  2. sad, but I would be dumb to say I am surprised. Last year's mild Winter was a blessing for those Forest Roads, I assumed this Winter would ruin a lot of them. Work parties it is. Keep me in the loop come spring.
  3. leading friction with no shirt? my nipples are quivering!
  4. probably a fox or coyote. Maybe, dare I say... a wolverine? http://www.fs.fed.us/pnw/news/2006/02/wolverine-radio.shtml
  5. try and exercise the opposite muscle group. In other words, if you spend all your time pulling and don't balance it out with pushing, something will give. I have seen many gym rats who do nothing but pull on plastic and they are always injured. Work your other muscles by being a well rounded athlete and don't ignore pains. climb lightly or not at all until the pain has gone.
  6. lovely! Days of Future Past looks stunning! I recognize those double ropes. They are sadly hanging in my closet waiting for a climbing day
  7. sounds like a great day out. I've been wanting to explore that area for a while now, thanks for the insight.
  8. As a very experienced alpinist once wrote about climbing in the mountains: "There are too many variables. Too many things that could go wrong. The alpine architect I've aspired to be doesn't exist. You can't control it all, it's too big: it's the earth." Love that quote
  9. nothing quite like falling down a mountain side in skis right? Did that once this year and hope to avoid that mistake for the rest. Thanks for the laughs and good story.
  10. yea, its tough being an ice climber in the NW. I grew up in NH and have a hard time getting psyched for the stuff out here. East coast just seems to have better freeze/thaw cycles. Its like growing up in Yosemite and moving to Minnesota.
  11. if you are referring to the shoes, they are not as old as they look. This was taken August 2010!
  12. North Face Mt. Shuksan Colchuck glacier end of May Climbing is full of color apre climb
  13. Took a trip out to the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River yesterday and was surprised to see that FS 56 was open all the way to Dingford Creek Trailhead! The road is definitely rough in some spots, but it is quite passable with FWD or AWD.
  14. did you at least boulder on those lovely rocks?
  15. sweet, thanks for the ideas! dberkinka, where is that?
  16. Hey I am looking for a good multi-day ski tour that is pretty moderate for a group of 5-6 people. Any suggestions? I would also be interested in backcountry huts
  17. wow, life is tough eh? nice work living the dream
