So much so that they have memorized statistics and examples of how for-profit medicine has destroyed the United States. But before you can exploit this information for personal gain, it’s important that you understand why white people are so in love with free health care. The first and most obvious reason is “they have it Europe.” White people love all things European, this especially true of things that are unavailable in the United States (Rare Beers, Absinthe, legal marijuana, prostitution, soccer). The fact that it’s available in Canada isn’t really that impressive, but it does contribute to their willingness to threaten to move there. This would allow them to work as a freelance designer/consultant/copywriter/photographer/blogger, open their own bookstore, stay at home with their kids, or be a part of an Internet start-up without having to worry about a benefits package. Though many of them would never follow this path, they appreciate having the option. [sound familiar?] If you need to impress a white person, merely mention how you got hurt on a recent trip Canada/England/Sweden and though you were a foreigner you received excellent and free health care. They will be very impressed and likely tell you about how powerful drug and health care lobbies are destroying everything. Though their passion for national health care runs deep, it is important to remember that white people are most in favor of it when they are healthy. They love the idea of everyone have equal access to the resources that will keep them alive, that is until they have to wait in line for an MRI. This is very similar to the way that white people express their support for public schools when they don’t have children.

I use green superfeet in mine, and they fit fine, but I tried them on with them in before purchasing. In my experience, you should find the insole that fits your arch and provides adequate support and cushion, and then try boots on with the insole in place. I like the cushioning in sole, however found the arch not rigid enough for me.

Yes - on the smaller sizes, I found that the short stems made getting to the trigger very difficult if the cam was deep in the crack at all. I think a lot of shops don't carry the short stems for this reason.

since C3s are 20%+ more than zeroes to begin with, I'm not sure why this would drive the purchasing decision

There are a lot of things that REI doesn't carry....true....but there are certain things that REI does carry, and the return policy is very nice, especially when you are buying something like moutaineering boots...no telling what they are going to do to your feet until you wear them. I save my 20% off for a big ticket item...this year it was Nepal EVO GTXs....with my coupon, dividend Xmas GCs, they cost my $37. And if they don't end up fitting right, I can take them back for a full refund. Yes, they are a big box retailer, but let's not forget they are a co-op, and not quite the big corporations that we like to hate. Another thing to consider, from a purely economic standpoint is the REI visa card. For purchases at REI I get my full dividend, plus an additional 5% dividend if I use the card, so everything I buy there is automatically 15% off - most importantly, my wife has no audit rights on anything bought with my dividend, because "it was free" Also, IMO the fact that they rely on other lines (other than climing) for their profits don't focus on climbing gear, is a benefit to knowledgeable consumers. Reason being is they turn their inventory very seasonally, and have little patience for aging goods sitting in the store. What that means to us, is they have very little clue what the market is willing to pay for climbing gear and often liquidate at fire sale prices since they have standard clearance policies - i.e. "take an additional 50% off clearance items with a price ending in 0.83". Pretty nice to get a top-of-the-line $350 softshell for $125.

Be sure and check the weather forecast....weather can move in quickly, and it can snow at muir during summer. People have died of exposure up there because they didn't bring the appropriate clothing.

Also, while the camera is a bit heavier than the canon elph or equivalent, the ability to use lower weigth lithium batteries that are far more dependable in extreme cold is nice.
