  1. http://rachelpapo.com/serial10.html She has her finger on the trigger guard. Points off. Finger stays on the receiver until the muzzle is pointed towards the target. But, that helps only if you know the difference between a bear and a woman in a blue coat.
  2. Saturday I met Curtis P. We will never be friends but I respect the hell out of him. But Mr. Spectacular, he's going to become my new party bud.
  3. Even a caliper evaluation is better. Studies show the worst error with a caliper eval is 3%. I arranged for a hydro tank evaluation.
  4. I thought this thread was about a new fan blade design.
  5. You just violated that law that sez you can't post bad stuff about your employer. Now Yahoo will fire you and you'll have to sue them for like a gazillion dollars and when you get your $70,000 settlement you can go climbing for a couple weekends. That reminds me, I haven't asked you for awhile if your rack is for sale. Is it?

    Earth First

If they're in the way of a mine, we just remove them. Otherwise we don't have an opinion about trees.

    Earth First

In my industry, there's a popular bumper sticker that says, "Earth First! We'll Mine The Other Planets Later"
  8. Feb 08: weight 165, bodyfat 22.5% August 08: weight 170, bodyfat 18%
  9. For many years my sister was an IRS auditor in the oil & gas section. Based on what she told me of the work, my guess would be No.
  10. Holy moly, 2x/day! I had my last guy on fluids 2x/WEEK plus meds every A.M. and P.M. It wore me to a nub. You are a hell of a trooper. But, we owe it to our pals.
  11. On the Spire Point story, the Seattle Times reports "...a 'fast team' of three rescue hikers started the climb to assist them." Rescue hikers?
  12. You never used to post this much...you know, back when you were climbing. That rack for sale yet? Can I have the first crack at it? Ow, that's harsh. Sorry. So, you want to get out this weekend?
  13. Anything other that "St. Olaf"!
  14. at least you won't be all sweaty and tired for the bivy
  15. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2008117851_webpot15m.html "More than 16,000 marijuana plants worth an estimated $48 million were destroyed as law-enforcement officers from nine agencies raided a marijuana farm in the Ross Lake National Recreation Area of the northern Cascades on Thursday." (My point with the thread title being, if you stumbled on the growers tending their farm you probably wouldn't live but you certainly wouldn't stand a chance if you were unarmed.)

  19. Didn't Bolivia elect some sort of commie populist for President? That's the cause of your bad roads, Comrade Rob: left wing politics!
  20. will search for fissile isotopes
  21. My improvement rate has increased since I stopped climbing with Mounties, and my ability horizon has expanded since I started climbing with people who came up in other ways. I see no difference in safety among the two groups. Common sense and situational awareness generally seems better among non-Mounties. However, this is individualistic and I see both extremes represented by specific persons from both backgrounds. With 20/20 hindsight I conclude that I very much over-valued Mounties training. It's nothing special. The worst thing about it is the herd instinct it inadvertently encourages with each tier of experience trusting the next higher tier with its well-being.
  22. Nice photos, thanks for posting. Neat climb, your TR makes me want to jump on it.
  23. When he came to the US in the early 70s after being exiled from Russia, he began attacking us for what he thought was too much liberty, our individualism, our lack of love for The State, our distrust of power and centralized strength---the very foundations of American constitutional liberalism established by the Founding Fathers. His diatribes came off as almost a validation of the commie's accustaions that he was a quasi-facist. He had his own idosyncratic notions of freedom, notions that did not at all match our Western ideals. Merely being an anti-communist hardly makes a person an angel or a hero.
  24. You could be a crux troll, hanging out at the crux waiting for someone to get gripped. Then you charge a fee to unlock the moves for them. As a sideline you could sell rap slings. Save money by using tats you’ve cleaned. Hang out at Eight Mile CG and encourage the tinhorns to get on stuff they can’t climb, then wait for them at the crux with your bag o’ goodies. A bolt drill is free to borrow but each bolt & hanger costs $50.
  25. Great. Now I'm craving pizza. Damn all of you!
