  1. Hey all, I'm selling some Pirelli Gravel Rally Tires on 15" steel rims. I've got 6 of them and they're perfect for the long approach drives on dirt. These WILL NOT fit a WRX and some newer legacies. they WILL fit older outbacks, legacies, imprezas, etc. They will also fit any car with a 5 x 100 bolt pattern with a ~45 offset [i think] and smallish brake setups. I'm trying to sell them for 20 bucks each with the rim, or perhaps trade them for some climbing gear [ie cams, nuts, ice screws, etc.] These tires are damn near impossible to puncture, so they're really reliable for driving faster than normal on the forest roads. I've used them for some long approaches in my Subie and it's awesome for peace of mind when you don't have a lame SUV or a pickup. It's a damn good deal because these things cost like 225 bucks a piece new. They're obviously used, but are still really good... just not up to rally spec anymore. If you pm me before Wednesday and pay cash, I'll give you all six for the price of five. peace, -brett
  2. here's a good question for you: what makes you more badass/respectable? 1. summitting and letting a dying man die? 2. giving up on the summit and making an attempt to save him? even if the guy was practically dead, if some folks tried to rescue him he might've gotten some hope inside him to keep him alive long enough to get down. ask yourself: WWSSD? [what would steven seagal do?]

hey, you guys should wish me luck. i'm trying to raise some money for the access fund, which is a pretty good cause i'd say. i'm probably gonna lose my job and rack up a bunch of debt to do this trip, so at least don't give me a too much crap for making an attempt at something i've been working really hard to accomplish. i am not seeking glory or anything. i'm just trying to do a bit of good around here. perhaps at best, i'll inspire someone to do something active or donate to the access fund. i wouldn't doubt that MOST of you can out-climb, out-ski, out-whatever me. i have alot of respect for anyone who has the skills to be safe and summit. the only thing i have is moderate ability and a strong will. i'm not Dan ____ or a bs'er or any of that. we are climbing the most non-technical routes on all of the mountains and have nothing to prove to anyone but ourselves. infact, there's a really good chance we wont even finish in 4 weeks. our main priority is to have fun and have a kickass climbing trip. "4 peaks in 4 weeks" sounds cool and it's an attainable goal if we push ourselves and the weather is bomber. so yeah, that's about it. check out the website, but please don't flame on there.... there'll be little kids and other random folks checking it out. www.forward-motion.org peace [truce?], -brett oh yeah, PS: northwestclimbers.com isn't workin so hot, obviously.... it's all good. maybe it'll pick up or maybe it wont. PPS: if it'll make you guys feel better to spray on me some more, go for it. just let me know you're joking. i can take a joke, but a communal piss-fest from the entire internet alpine community is not my idea of a good time.
  5. dudes, relax ok. if you don't want to use NWC.com, that's cool. I have owned the domain northwestclimbers.com since before this stuff ever came up. NWC.com has alot of potential that cc.com has ignored. Namely, climbs in places like Idaho and Montana. I know there's a place for it on cc.com under california, but it doesn't seem to be used that much. I'm just a normal guy who likes to climb like everybody else. I don't have any problems with any of you guys. I can take a joke alot better than you all probably think. The thing is, none of you are joking. Calm down a bit and let things go. If you have a personal problem with me, feel free to send me a PM and we can work it out. Thanks, -brett

i agree with the ad. every respectable climber i've ever known has been humble and pretty much nice. this site, however, seems like it's filled with a bunch of egotistical idiots. and she's not alone in her sentiments. most of the climbers i know think this site is full of BS too. the only thing it's good for is the OCCASSIONAL well-done trip report, [excluding the retarded replies and self-embelishing remarks posted thereafter]. get a clue folks.
  8. what are your thoughts about climbing one of these mtns this week? is it a bad idea due to the avalanche danger or should i tell my friends to stop being a bunch of wussies.... i'm getting restless. i need to climb. lemme know your thoughts. thanks! -brett
  9. Check out www.forward-motion.org. That's my own organization for the bike ride I did over the summer. My plan is to sorta shift gears and take it into a new direction with the 4 peaks in 4 weeks. What I really want to do is get a few cool epic trips like these under my belt and then start giving talks in classrooms, educating kids about getting out and DOING something.... I never had any positive real-life influences growing up. All of my idols were folks I read about in books. If someone came into my classroom while I was growing up and talked about being adventurous rather than the normal hum-drum of the standard college-track, I think I would've been a lot better off. I'd just like kids to know that there's more to life than primetime TV and American Idol. Anyway, I'm only 21 now. I guess I've got a lot of time to create some epics.... peace, -brett
  10. we're definitely gonna be carrying all of our own gear. i think i'll be able to snag some b.o.b. trailers that we can use to tow our gear. our tentative sendoff date is july 6th.... [we need a day to recover after the 4th ] i dont think i'm anywhere close to doing rainier in under 24. that's one hell of a hike after pedaling all the way up to paradise. thanks for the input~ -brett
  11. thanks for the reply matt, i'll definitely be ironing out an exact route in the days/months ahead. the major reason why i even mentioned avalanche danger is because this year is supposed to be a "la nina" ...meaning lots more precip and potential late-season snowfall. i think things should be fine however by july. -b
  12. what's up all. I'm curious what your thoughts are for a trip I have planned this summer. This past summer I rode my bicycle across the US, so I'd like to continue my adventurism by taking on something a little closer to home... Anyway, the trip is called "4 Peaks in 4 Weeks." My best bud and I are going to ride bicycles from Tacoma to Mt. Baker, then to Glacier Peak, then Rainier and Adams, climbing them all and riding home to Tacoma.... all in 4 weeks. I'm no stranger to long bike rides and I feel like I can ride about 80 miles a day through the mountains carrying my gear without any difficulties or big time soreness. On my cross-country ride I had quite a few 100+ mile days, including one over the continental divide and another day with 75 miles offroad. The climbing will be the hardest part, obviously. Glacier has a huge approach and will take quite awhile to hike in. Avalanche danger, weather, etc., could all set us back and mess up the schedule. We figure if we spend 2 days per mountain and then take it easy for a day on the bike, we should still finish in time. We think we can probably finish baker and maybe [maybe] adams in one day if we push. Our goal is to do all 4 mountains in a month, but if we dont do it we'll just take our time. We'll be doing it for my charity, Forward Motion, to raise awareness of being active, etc. Anyone have any thoughts? Has anyone done something similar? Lemme know what you think~ Thanks, Brett
  13. you're all funny ones... pandora, check your PM -b
  14. haha, yeah, mitts you know. it was nearly 4 am when i made this post last night, so dont rag too much i live in Puyallup WA, so anything around mt rainier, etc. thanks! -brett
