Zack Martin 2007 Grant Update
Fabrizio Zangrilli, the 2007 ZMBB recipient, was turned back by bad
weather after a 36 hour push to climb a new route on the south face of K2.
He and his team may make another attempt but soon he will be headed to the
Khane Valley in Pakistan for the humanitarian portion of the grant. To
wit, to help build, outfit and partially hire a school teacher for
children of the Khane Valley.
Fabrizio will be working with Girls Educational International
www.girlseducationinternational.blogspot.com GEI has done some prep work
in Khane
talking with the village women. The word is that most women in the village
want the school and that they don't feel like taking the girls away from
the work in the field will be detrimental to the community. Instead they
feel like having the girls go to school will benefit the community.
Additional Information:
Journalist Lizzy Scully and North Face athlete Heidi Wirtz founded GEI, an
international non-profit organization to help educate girls and assist
with the construction, maintenance, and support of girls' schools around
the world.
