  1. Could be spotty by May due to the low elevation but I honestly don't know and I guess it's a good snow year. But it's best NOW. (except for the moguls.)
  2. futon... Also, I found a vault pad at the Re-Store last year.
  3. You'll be fine Josh, but it would be more fun with real AT boots. Oh and it's soft moguls now.
  4. Thanks for putting on this event (and letting us drink your beer), Jon and co. Nice to see so many cool folks get together!
  5. Yeah but when they jumped out of the helicopter, did they actually land on the true real summit?
  6. Hahaha, "Anti-inflammatory" my ass!
  7. topo page, torn out of someone else's Beckey guide
  8. Did you used to shop at the Fairhaven Red Apple?
  9. sick man, I don't want to see your internet workout porn!
  10. drive slower, jackass! (Hahaha, good luck driving up here to kick my ass now. )
  11. Perhaps you are confused about their reaction. They are just wondering what that green paper stuff is.
  12. When you timed your peak for this climb, did you do 20 or 25% power endurance during week eleven? Also, what type of music did you listen to while on lead?
  13. Did I miss the class on wilderness machete technique?
  14. Yeah actually you're right. I change my stance. I'd be happy if all of the peakbaggers would lose interest in climbing Washington volcanoes, and all go spend 3 or 4 weeks trying to climb Denali instead.
  15. Fine, knock down the number of folks allowed to attept West Buttress as a summit route then. I've never been up there, so it's possible I have no idea what I'm talking about. But it sounds like there are just too many dog-route sloggers on the mountain.
  16. Seriously, just cap the West Buttress, or any other route that gets out of hand.
  17. That's a good point. If it's the helmet I'm thinking of, it seems like the flex could be reinforced without too much trouble (some I-beam ribs or something like that).
  18. Flat 1500/year limit doesn't sound very creative. Shouldn't there be route-specific, periodic restrictions? For example, "only 30 people get to camp on the West Butt route this month" or somoething like that.
  19. I can't believe it when Base Camp closed. It's like REI kicked my childhood dog. If any of you Bellinghamsters have a soul left, then you can help to stop the raping of the town by non-local interests. Shop at American Alpine Institute, Fairhaven Bike and Mountain Sports, or Sportsmans' Chalet instead. StaREIbucks is no different now than any other national chain, sadly. Like the rest of America, whatever grace it had was violated by the "growth is success and success is growth" disease. (There must be some metaphysical connection to the obesity problem... )
  20. yeah lightweight gear is for pansies, lol I like the ripping things apart with bare hands part, though
  21. Actually I called in a chopper on you guys too. Good thing you hid. haha
  22. Not that I know much about Rainier, but there's relatively little snow in that picture, for this time of year? yes/no?
