  1. I defintely misread some of the traversing moves on Neat and Cool in Squamish, but it seemed quite a bit easier than I first thought once I watched my friend follow and realized where everything was. I wouldn't call it a difficult onsight, but just not as straightforward as some of the other splitters in the area. Oh yeah, and Popeye and the Raven definitely had me stumped until I tried some acrobatic stemming off a crazy chickenhead feature. That bit could be a show-killer if you didn't get creative.
  2. I think i have a brand new pair of sabretooths...
  3. group hug guys... seriously, if you want to climb, this thread is great for letting people know and finding partners. If John isn't guiding newbies at Rocky Butte anymore, then maybe the newbies wont climb there, or maybe someone else will. Life goes on...
  4. current thread for Smith in the partners forum http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/threadz/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/615903/an/0/page/0#615903
  5. I live in Bellingham, climb a lot, and I am always looking for partners. I would be glad to show you new guys around on some local rock ro even sneak you in to the local climbing gym for free if you want to. Shoot me an email and we will hook up. BlakeHerrington @ gmail DOT-CALM
  6. So if girth hitching slings is generally to be avoided, how do folks that use daisy chains attach them to their harnesses? I have always just girth hitched mine to the belay loop. Every daisy I have seen is wider webbing that the recent 8mm dyeema sling that cut itself. Is there any chance of runners (skinny dyneema or others)cutting/failing if they are tripled-up and used alpine-draw style like a quickdraw?
  7. sweet unclimbed 1,700' north faces leading to FWAs!!
  8. classic crack for someone who can climb 5.10 face/stemming/smearing, or anything other than needing to commit to pure jamming.

  10. i think Next Adventure in PDX has them for sale. Probably a lot like rigid friends.
  11. Why is there an apostrophe on "ticks" in the thread title? Maybe I am a punctuation nazi, but that annoys me every time I log in. just because there is more than one of something, does not mean you need an apostrophe. "Best Trip's of '06?"
  12. does look like there's a chockstone partway up

    BLOOD FOR OIL!!!

After seeing this article I talked to one of the professors at WWU who teaches Energy Economics, and he said that for every %1 pure drop in oil supply short-term, the price generally goes up about 2-2.5% Anyways, he said that in the short term (like tomorrow or next week) if ALL Iraqi oil production ceased, the price wouldn't even ht $80 a barrel. (currently about $60)
  17. What the BLEEP is indeed the worst. One of the directors of that piece of shit movie came to WWU last year for a screening, and i distributed 60 fliers I had printed out that used parts of articles done by salon.com and skeptic mag to show that her film and its claims were all ridiculous nonsense engineered and run by the weird cult people in Yelm at the Ramtha Enlightment School. She didn't like it when half the audience in the auditorium was reading about how her movie was an F-ed up scam before her "pre-screening" speech. We Exchanged words...
  18. I don't care if it's fred beckey and lynn hill instead of some abercrombie models... anyone wearing those clothes and glasses, and posed like that, should inspire an immediate gag reflex.why not just change the name of the brand to "I am a huge tool"?
  19. seems like lots of the cascade alpien routes are roo wandery to permit ubber-long pitches without incredible rope drag. Guess it depends on what kind of route you are on though.
  20. Mt. Aspiring SW Ridge (New Zealand) Gunsight Peak W. Face (2nd ascent of the "Selected" route)
  21. Wa crack: Free For all - Beacon Rock Wa Sport: Ride em Cowboy - Vantage WA Wixed: Blue Crack Pitch on Dreamer (think it has a bolt or two)

  23. John wins the prize!
  24. It's my understanding that the Sherman failure didn't fail due too much weight/strength overload but jut because the skinny runner cut through the other runner. It's wasn't too heavy, it was too 'sharp' and sawed through on multiple rappels.
