I find this total lack of meaningful response to the above issues disturbing.

Why don't you logically explain the Madrock, X Rock, Pagan Gear cluster fuck/fudge (which ever you prefer) to us in simple easy to understand terms so knuckle dragers like myself may gain some respect for this new brand and actually send you some money. Everyone should check out cold fingers links. Something seams quite off in this whole deal. You don't know what it means?, like you didn't start this thread to attract attention to this new brand to get people to buy your shoes?

I read the links that coldfinger posted on the whole Mad Rock, X Rock, Joe Garland shit show. Sounds like a major cluster-fudge. Are you this Joe guy? Life aint nothing but a fucking commercial

There are't many "always" do's and don'ts in climbing. Evaluate the situation, do what feels safe, if you don't like the fixed hardware, back it up with some trad/natural placements. If in doubt, go climb another route.

PM Hanman, he is the man, I have cams and hexes he has bartacked and I use them without any reservation.

The Obsidians used to climb up at Baby Rock near Oak Ridge (the big pillar you can see driving up to Willamette Pass). Any of the old timers know anything about the historic use of this crag?

Great video! While I probably wouldn't have touched the guy physically, I don't think I could have restrained my foul mouth. The lecturer on the video sure has some restraint and maybe close to being Budha. Also was the redhead gal with his guy? Hard to believe.

Nice lookin mouth pussy though!

Well hell yes, I have climbed 30 times probably, my favorite 30 foot route! although I thin 5.9+ is better (a little sandbag never hurt anyone, well maybe?)

Regarding the Wallowas, there are no "public" huts per se, there are some guides operating yurts and wall tents for hire the Sheep and McCully Creek areas. That being said, worth the money. I personally like to ski the elkorns more though but there aint no huts, yurts, wall tents, or adorondacks

Kahana at the Noelani Condo Resort nice accomodations at a reasonable price. It is a rocky shore in front but it has mass sea turtles all the time feeding there.

That is interesting about Honolua, there were only a couple people out there when we were there, and although it was a great place, it felt a bit unsettling, I thought because of the weird private land scene at the beach, but maybe it was the spirits. There as actually a very surfable wave forming on the extreme north (right hand side looking out toward the water) at Flemming. It was actaully barreling a bit. Few people on that side of the beach when we were there!
-
No Bra, we hit Honolua and C.T. fleming for Da Kines, still got water in the ears from some big WHOMPINGS!

I can't concern my self with anything less than 5 pitches when there is warm water and surf to be had!

Trip: Something other than Hood - SW Oregon Rogue River - Grave Creek to Foster Bar Date: 10/1/2010 Trip Report: Had a conference down near Klamath. Should have brought the climbing gear for the Williamson River crags located bout 2 miles from where the conference was. Anyway, hit the Rogue afterward through the lower wild and scenic stretch for some steelhead fishing after (half pounders) but all we mostly caught was a buzz (beer, gin, vodka was bighting the worm). Saw 6 bears along the way but no pics, a mom and cub accros the river, one in an oak tree after acorns, another swam the river near us, and a few more along the way. Someone should try bouldering the length of mule creek canyon (>0.5 miles where the river canyon is 20 to 30 feet wide). Gear Notes: 3 rafts, 4 fifths, and 150 beers Approach Notes: 6 pack chevy and boat trailor

FA of Old Man Rock - Dilleys Delight on the N. Umpqua. A message I got from Gary after I posted my TR of the climb this year, which I really appreciated: I was a member of the first attempt and first ascent - We got to the "Cave" on the attempt, but without bolts, could go no higher - Cams and Friends did not exist then 1n 1959, and also sticky shoes - We climbed in regular climbing boots - I led first pitch, and it was basic find the easiest way, holding the holds in place as I went up - Then Fergy did the next to the "Cave" and that was it for us, so we went and did a first on the Old Woman which I led - In 1963 I came back, though I was late in joining the party as I had to work, but I did join the group on top - Bolts were used as thats what was availible - On the rap off, the rope got stuck at the edge, and it was scary as two of us in the "Cave" trying to get the darn thing to let go - It took about 30 minutes of panic pulling and flipping - I was interested to know there is now a climbers trail to Old Man - We had to bushwack through poison oak which is not fun afterwards - Have been back a few times to repeat the climb, and its always a blast - Gary Kirk

I started tele sking about 12 years ago after snowboarding only since 1988. And have been teleing primarily ever since (although I get a couple snowboard days on big pow every year). I basically tought my self, but I wish I had taken some lessons. I plataued out at a moderate level and ended up takeing a couple private lessons at Mt. Baker 2 years ago, which reall improved my skiing. Call up to baker, they probably have a Tele instructor. Also you used to be able to get a Chair 2 only ticket. That is a good place to get started. You buy me a ticket and I will give you a solid halfday lesson at Baker my self.

Is the approach long assed? Skis? Yes on the skis, put it this way, if you can handle the drive over from PDX the approach is nothing. You go up the strawberry lake trail, then up toward little strawberry lake, which is pretty much at the base of the final open slope you go up to the base of this climb. Strawberry falls is down in the Timber too. It all depends how far up the Strawberry Lake road you can get. About a little over 3 miles one way if you can drive to the Strawberry Lake trail head, or if you have a snowmachine to get you up to the TH. It is defenitley a 5.5 hour+ drive from PDX to Prairie City under normal driving conditions, in winter it can be significantly longer. I used to live in JD and work on the upper john day and on the backside in Logan Valley (upper Malheur) for a few years. quick googling found this, with a few photos in summer and an approach map to L. Strawberry Lake. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Rmav50MtQoU/SqF0CJBJcAI/AAAAAAAAAcU/YJ-RFgurhNM/s320/Strawberry%2BFalls.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.hikemasters.com/2009/09/strawberry-lakes-strawberry-mountain.html&usg=__CAXymIS39LJk1jQgbRRGyNb3mkA=&h=320&w=207&sz=28&hl=en&start=8&zoom=1&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=2PijypIjdFecRM:&tbnh=118&tbnw=76&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dstrawberry%2Bfalls%2Boregon%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26tbs%3Disch:1
