  2. There's going to be a lot of red faces on this site!
  3. Arches is the most anal of parks that I have visited. It is not unlike a museum. Look but do not touch really seems to be their motto there. It is certainly not as laid back at ONP or Mt Rainier. Look how quick management overreacted and put out another CFR. And by the way, how can a new CFR be enacted so quickly with out legislative action? I am heading to Moab tomorrow to go mtn biking. I' ll stop by Arches and clear up the matter for you all.

  7. been up the long snow couloir on the east side. route 3 i guess. the east side has several ponds. nice place in the summer. just look west and start heading uphill. pretty easy route, avoids flypaper pass and the shround on the eel. probably the easiest way up. take ice axe and crampooooons.
  8. "Austrian mountaineer Christian Stangl has claimed a new speed record for climbing 18,506-foot Mt. Elbrus, Europe’s highest peak. Stangl raced up the mountain in 5 hours 18 minutes, starting from the Azau ski area at 7,150 feet—that’s more than 2,100 vertical feet an hour, the first two-thirds on skis and the rest with crampons. " OK, but without an accompanying yellow lab, how can this be taken seriously?

    Middle Aged?

Middle age is always ten years older than you are.
  10. Laura Bush convicted of manslaughter George Bush convicted of drunk driving Dick Cheney convicted of drunk driving Dick Cheney accused of drinking and shooting hunting partner Rush Limbaugh convicted of illegal drug possession. The list goes on and on and on. Why do the Republicans always try to lead the charge against a Dem, forgetting that their own problems? Due to alcohol black-outs? Probably.
  11. Yes, good old Pete has been flying helicopters since the vietnam war. He also flew hueys for several years out of the Ellensburg DNR office during fire season.

    I miss Druy

30,000 posts? That's about the size of a small novel isn't it?
  18. Take a short drive north to Nelson, BC. Then drive up as far as you can to gibson lake and then ski up the road to kokanee lake and to the base of the kokanee glacier, and stay in the nice slocan chief cabin. ski the glacier, and peak bag the area. Go to the ainsworth hotsprings when you get back.
  19. Really you should think about taking up golf instead.........
  20. Anyone here have beta on Mt Dana (in the Olympics)? We are planning on a major Olympic bushwack with unmanageable packs, skis sticking out the top for added fun, a nice cold wet river ford, and a nice snowy ascent to the top. Looking at next month. Been there before, but that was by helicopter, so I don't think that counts. There is no trail, and poor descriptions in the guide book. We think we know the secret key to the top, but wouldnt mind advice....

    Snaffles in Love!

Yup, that' the gal for me. Maybe its time to write a personal ad.......... mtn mouse, SFP (single furry peromyscus), has own mtn nest and a large snaffled cache, looking for a bulbous brown eyed peromyscus, microtus or marmota to spend long hibernations together, and go on exciting raids of unsuspecting backpackers and climbers stashes. Rec drugs ok, but no Warfarin! Rats and weasels need not apply.
  22. There are some granite boulders in eastern wa as a result of the ice age floods, glacial erratics that were carried downstream from Montana. Some are quite big up near highway 2 by Wilbur. I remember seeing some south of the Potholes reservoir, in the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge. Just head for Othello and the drumhiler channel.
  23. The mouse has been away from cascadeclimbers for two weeks and eagerly awaits the stimulating conversation and humor, but......what have you done to this site???????????
