$167 here. John, airline visas charge an annual fee. With the rei visa, there is no fee, and I understand that if you wait a certain period, you get cash.

Nice post Matt: and I'll second what you say. I have a Metolius taking up space and it's generally ignored.

I just bought my wife the brand new dual processor/Intel™ 20" screen 1gb mem Mac™ , tell the truth, it's been here @ 2weeks now, and I wouldn't trade it for the 5 year old Dell running Win2000 I'm typing on. Course, Microsoft™ (Code name monopolist™ pricegouger™ ) still sucks. Perhaps familarity does breed contempt™ (code name Vista™ ) ?

The PDX show Mike put on was very very well produced and executed. The mounties will be getting their monies worth. Added: turn it up if you can find a way to do so for the older folks in the crowd. (I know that it was up full in PDX) I was in the back of the room and was straining to hear, course I'm old...but we are talking the mounties here....

Toast: my back goes toast when 3 things combine. 1) Poor eating habits: (think excessive Mcdonalds) 2) Stress: Work, money, relationships: you know that story. 3) Sleep: poor position or lack of. I need to effect change on those and see a chripractor. It took a surprising amount of years for me to figure me out, so good luck on what is your true core issues are Toast.

Side note: thought I'd take the opprotunity to buy some more cause I send a bunch of dimpled ones back and got a rack of Trango Max Cams as trade (out of the frying pan and into the fire as they say). Now I have too many Aliens. Unless I find myself up El cap and in need of doubles for offsets. Hows this sound: $40 for a brand new Black? Yes, that sounded good to me too. Tradrack.com See - I must have a 15 min attention span and time was up was an hour ago.

Here was an interesting attempt at a solution to this very problem: "Police: Woman Fakes Death To Avoid Paying Traffic Tickets Des Moines Woman Faces Felony Charges DES MOINES, Iowa -- An investigation concluded that a Des Moines woman faked her own death to avoid paying traffic tickets. Polk County investigators said Kimberly Du, 36, faked her own obituary and forged a letter telling a Polk County judge she was dead. Du is spending time in the Polk County Jail in connection with a forgery charge. Court documents show that Du tried to avoid paying several tickets by sending a letter to the courthouse. The letter is allegedly signed by Du's mother and said Du died on Dec. 5, according to court documents. Investigators said the information submitted include a phony obituary made to look like a page from The Des Moines Register's Web site that said Du died in car accident, and her mother's signature was forged. Du's mother said she didn't write or sign the letter. It's a case that leaves a legal expert scratching his head. "The state still has to convince a jury of 12, but faking your own death is not a good idea," said Bob Rigg, of the Drake Law Clinic. The case began to unravel when investigators said Du was stopped for another traffic ticket in January, which was a month after the obituary was dated. The probe began at the county courthouse. "If she did it, she now faces a felony instead of a misdemeanor," Rigg said. He said that she probably she didn't think about the fact that she was getting out of simple misdemeanors by committing a class D felony, and going from a $500 fine to a five-year prison term. Du now faces more trouble than before. The Polk County Attorney's Office could not comment about the case except to say it has never seen anyone try it before." Found here: Dumb bitch

Any chance you can just take Chuck in next time this happens? Probably be a bit smoother. BTW, I think your poll is flawed. If a helmet is CE rated, than it's good to go. Some helmets are just made radiacilly different from each other. The thin shells are only there to hold the styrofoam in, it's a 1 time shot affair, but they work good for that 1 shot. They have no longevity. Most of the European helmets do not use that kind of arrangement as 1 rock may be the first of 25 on some of those crap north face Alp routes. Don't want to climb all day under rockfall when your helmet shatters from the first rock. What counts is: is the helmet Uiaa or CE rated? from REI site; " Climbing helmets sold at REI all meet standards set by the CEN (European Committee for Standardization) and UIAA (Union Internationale des Associations d'Alpinisme). The helmets are tested for shock and energy absorption, conical impact, security of retention straps and for ventilation. The CEN assures that these products go through quality-control testing as well. Interesting that the BD site doesn't claim either of these standards. They do have a great testimonial. My brother and his wife worked in Botswana. When my mom went over to vist, one of the more interesting things she witnessed was a man laying by the side of the road covered with bees. His bike lay to the side. The bees eventually killed him. But he was not dead then. Nobody went to assist. (Really, what could you do?)
