If you hadn't gotten me the job I wouldn't have been fired from it. Asshole. there is alittle more to it than that, but your right he did get me the job Well, I'm sure you an spit on him next time you see him to show your gratitude for the help and the quick rememberance for Mr E that no good deed shall go unpunished. My lyrical contribution for Whirlwind: When you're falling awake and you take stock of the new day, and you hear your voice croak as you choke on what you need to say, well, don't you fret, don't you fear, I will give you good cheer. Life's a long song. Life's a long song. Life's a long song. If you wait then your plate I will fill. As the verses unfold and your soul suffers the long day, and the twelve o'clock gloom spins the room, you struggle on your way. Well, don't you sigh, don't you cry, lick the dust from your eye. Life's a long song. Life's a long song. Life's a long song. We will meet in the sweet light of dawn. As the Baker Street train spills your pain all over your new dress, and the symphony sounds underground put you under duress, well don't you squeal as the heel grinds you under the wheel. Life's a long song. Life's a long song. Life's a long song. But the tune ends too soon for us all.

Yeah I don't disagree. Wow, Patagonia, awesome, I hope you have a great trip and climbing: pray for some good weather. Looking at this group of pics should help get your stoke on. Thank's for making my dream of a pic on this thread a reality Pup! Check that guy freeing that roof. Wow. (I'm bracing now for the inevitable "Looks too hard, probably hang-dogged it" comments)

51 - but I'm not preaching Tim, just saying. And that stuff is played out, I agree, but what's a mother to do? Really, then what is the reason for 18 years of mandatory schooling if you don't learn by being told and from reading others opinions? I should sue the government for making me waste all those years. Well, I don't know what that means really. "Where do I get off"? What do you mean "get off"? "Where I get off?" Not sure I understand that. Well, I don't get off on trash, that's for sure. There is plenty of evidence but things have changed on the big mountains for sure, for a while now the Nepalese gov't has had big, multi thousand dollar deposits needed pre-climb for the big ones like Everest. If you didn't pack it out, you forfited the money. People now pack it out. My knowledge of trash left by those groups comes from friends describing it to me of seeing French groups leave trash. Here is a quick internet story, I'm sure you can find plenty more: Asians pick up the trash story: JAPAN: May 28, 2002 TOKYO - Mountain climbers from Japan, South Korea and Georgia cleared two tonnes of garbage from Mount Everest in the past two weeks, a fraction of the trash littering the world's highest peak, Kyodo news agency said yesterday. Among the oxygen bottles, gas cartridges and plastic cluttering the South Col Valley were bottles left there for a half century, dating back to a 1952 failed bid by a Swiss expedition to reach Everest's peak, Kyodo said. That was one year before Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa conquered the mountain. The cleaning expedition also buried two bodies - an Indian mountaineer and a Nepali Sherpa. Displaying some of the garbage in the Nepali capital of Kathmandu, team leader Ken Noguchi told reporters there were still four to five tonnes of garbage at the Col, the point from which the final trail to the Everest summit begins. Those returning from Mount Everest say the mountain that lures climbers from around the world each year is littered with more than 100 tonnes of garbage. "We found more garbage on the Nepalese side than on the north side in Tibet," Kyodo quoted Noguchi as saying. Noguchi, who has already led two cleaning expeditions to Everest from the Tibetan side and collected a total of about three tonnes of trash, plans to clean the base camp of Mount Manaslu in north central Nepal next spring, Kyodo said. " End of that story. There have been regular trash cleanups in those parts of the world for some time now and between the awareness and deposits, I'm sure it's gotten better. Hopefully it has changed in the other remote corners of the world, but I have not been to Fitzroy and cannot say, so as they say, your results may vary. I have heard the same stories from friends in Alaska though. Notice I didn't say All French climbers are anti-environment. You and everybody you know may be super clean, but as they say, it only takes 1 bad apple and the whole country gets a bad rap. If I'd only heard this once and it was only 1 story, that would be different, but thats not the case. My news is old though. Like me. You asked. Don't think I dislike French people or culture either. I've been to Paris twice in the last 3 years just to hang out and love the place and the people.

A5 - I totally agree with you and they way young people are learning and some of the ethics (and lack thereof) some are carrying into out sport. Bolting cracks is one thing we never use to see of ever hear of. Euros (French) in particular have also been known for leaving all their trash after an expedition to a remote pristine part of the world (Here's hoping they don't do that any longer). It looks like they did have the wide gear. Check this pic. roof pic Some pretty good pictures given the environment. Well, that lacks impact!

You forgot your shovel!

Ya'll know the 25 for 25 lunch deal this month? I have been going out and enjoying it once a week. I am as round as this dog. Me too, in fact that dog is my ropegun for this year.

The hooker part? What...huh? uhhh, ohhhhhhhh...... I see how it is.
-
Not me, like it. BTW, when I was reading Rumrs 1st post above (hey thanks Rumr!) , I could HEAR Josephs voice. Great stuff. I think Todd-Gordons post was real good too. Archenemy, the media only does that cause old people suck. Of course, being old, I'd have to include myself in that dig. Ouch. Not much one can do about it but get a gold chain, a Corvette and a 20 year old kitten.

Well......perhaps some clarification might be in order. I am a gear whore, but I might add, a cheap gear whore.

Wow, thank your lucky stars for Ski Patrolers and a bunch of other things too eh? Congrats.

Interesting that while reading John Long postulating on all this at RC.com, one of his buddies on supertopo just outed him for TR belaying him and some other friends back in the day by just holding the rope with his HAND Too funny. Still, there's some interesting ideas out there.

? ? Sorry Paul. Not sure. I suspect it's cause those climbs did not use to have any bolts on top for years and years while video & silver bullet area pretty much had bolts installed from day one mostly by the folks developing and cleaning the routes. I suspect thats why my added bolts at the top of tiger paws got yanked. Pajunas did those routes and he didn't put in bolts and there weren't any for 15 years or whatever till I selfishly plugged some in. Course, those are down close by Video bluff. I put them in cause I liked to solo those routes and could also save some set-up time, so I'd get more climb time. Selfish. Who can say, I'm still trying to figure out the reason the US entered WW1 and don't have that answer either. I met some guys out there once who argued for no bolts anywhere, but it was under the guise of keeping folks from falling off the top and old school kind of "if you don't need them you shouldn't have them " kind of talk. It acutally was very persuasive. I hadn't thought of it before, but it's true that most of the climbers who get hurt and injured out there seem to going for the anchors on top just to get set up. If theres no anchors, climbers tend to be tied in with a rope or sling off of a tree while they set up, instead of reaching over the edge of a muddy ground 60 foot cliff with just 2 draws totally unroped or protected. Now I seem to see even more of that than back then like 3 years ago, maybe cause people are coming out of the gym and don't know about tieing in off a tree. ? who knows. The news people reported 10 accidents there last year. I knew of only 3 or 4. I suspect the city will start noticing the increased accident rate, or there will be some lawsuit and they will close it for all of us at some point.

Sorry, thats all I noticed.

Naughtygirl, you have to click on John green Yoda Link and disreguard the talk about the Hookers when you get there. Usually I wouldn't say anything but you seem so nice.

Hopefully Jon gets some great revenue off it and we can continue our addiction for free.
