    American Idol

A better response might be "I was busy climbing and watching the NBA finals like a real man to even know this was happening..... " Is your next question: What's up with Jessica Simpson and Brittany now? OMG!
  2. Well, wall season is here, anyone hammerless may want to look at this one. bouldermountaineering.com $48 Omega Pacific hammer $48.75 With funkness device.
  3. OK, what do I win then? I wasn't contesting your list Mark but rather adding to it. I think you nailed it. We had a hydrolic horizontal bandsaw at the last place I worked and it was the total Schizz. I cut mucho metal on that bandsaw including scads of All Thread rod to various lengths for mfg and contractors and most of the custom channel for new building hydrolic line installs around here. When that wasn't being used we had a big custom made chop saw that was used a lot as well. I've been (happily) out of that niche since @1997 though, and if I bump into it I'm paying someone to do the job now: so I rarely touch the single chop saw we have anyway. I still like the smell of burning metal though.
  4. welcome back Sean. I just saw the tappit bros yesterday and they told me I'd missed you Thurs, proving once again not to turn my back on the computer for even a moment!:-) Try to see you folks next time.
  5. Blades for chop saws come in many different configurations. Chop saw works fine if you use a gritty, fast cutting blade Mark. It won't get it hot enough to affect the temper at all and is very fast. Keep the pieces clamped down tight....
  6. Don't know Matt, but Jason wanders down this way on occasion. I was once up in the almost deep woods (for sure a no people area) and here comes Jason wandering through with his lil pup in a child carrier....it's so so shockingly out of place and time.....very surreal. The lil kid was a champ, really a keeper. Jason sure seems like good people and a good father. The guy had arms the size of my thighs, and really hadn't been out much at that time cause of back related issues. Hope he's feeling better.

    True meaning

My thoughts are in bold. I have interpreted "Women" to "English" for several years now. Translation: That works, thanks for listening to me, glad you got it. Translation: Don't put the ball game on or call Jimmy O, cause we're out of here in 5 min. Translation: Go take some time for yourself, you've been working your ass off. Translation: Go ahead. (if the original was spoken with an eyebrow lift or a lilting inflection as she turns her head away, it means to go ahead, but please re-consider my points deeply before you commit. Translation: I'll be upstairs watching TV, can you stay here so I have some alone time? I just want to watch a Vampire movie by myself, and I'm tired. If she is not tired, this comes out as " can you stay right here while I wander away so I have some alone time? I just want to watch a Vampire movie by myself, and I'm tired." Translation: Means, I understand your point of view, go ahead, however...."Sigh!" Translation: same Translation: Not heard from adults, this is pretty much heard from a teenage daughter, and the direct literal interpretation is "F*YOU OLD PERSON" Translation: Please reconsider, if you can't, then I've got it. [font:Arial Black]And my fav: [/font] 10)Honey, you need to get out and go climbing. Translation: You're not your normal happy go lucky self, get outside and crank with your friends. Well all still be here for you to listen and help when you get back if that doesn't cure whats making you abnormally morose and intractable. Should you chose to ignore this advice, then something is seriously wrong and I want to know immediately what the problem is.
  8. dude, you just bumped this. Check yer calender, it's May. Not March. March madness sale was @ (two) months ago. Did theie check finally arrive? I'm cornfused. Wake me up if they do a May madness sale OK?
  9. This is what I can bring to the table. My foot work and endurance suck with the lowest of them. Ask anyone. However, once we're done discussing my inadaquacies...........ahhh, shit, I bet you really don't need any of my advice from an old man..... but...well, just hearing the phrase "route developer" still grates hard....these routes have always been there, someone just finally climbed them. To be a "developer" ya grind and crank some bolts into some plywood in a gym....P.l.e.a.s.e! . Any pussy can do that. Hell, I could do it...or at least in a gym for sure. Hope that it all goes well for you folks, but now that it's on the internet....sigh...... PS, I wonder if anyone else can still see new route potential from this picture *cough*tradgear*cough*crack*tradgear*cough*. This must not be one of Mister E's routes, what is that between bolts? 3 feet? 2? But I digress, great color on the pics, but do you really want this on the internet?

That guy ragging on women must have a pretty fucked up life. Bet he lives in Los Angeles. Tom Lykis does a better version of that schtick anyway, and he's much more intelligent about it than this guy, although his last crack to that woman was pretty funny. Men are better than women site vs Tom Leykys site
  11. Should be in your mailbox tomorrow Brook.

Some great writing too: "There are a lot of female MMA fighters out there and they could take you apart like a fat man dismantling a whole roasted chicken......"

    drugs

I never had any real desire to expand the roster beyond caffeine and alcohol - and wound up puking every time I chewed or smoked a cigar (about twice, each) - so even though I'm in favor of legalizing everything, this discussion is kind of academic to me on a personal level. They way I see it - an uptick in the addiction rate, while regrettable, is a less bad option than all of the harmful and costly byproducts of prohibition. I also can't help but believe that what mentally competent adults choose to do to their own bodies is their own business, and should never be criminalized. Having said all that - I couldn't help but wonder how people who intend to use heroin, meth, etc on a recreational basis go about evaluating their capacity to do so without getting hooked, ruining their lives, and dragging everyone they love through a multi-stage nightmare. I believe you when you say that there are people who can do so, and they are probably much more numerous than strict non-users like myself would believe - but to an outsider like me it seems like people who have a desire to try meth or heroin on a recreational basis might (on average) score fairly low on the impulse-control and ability-to-evaluate-risk-rationally scales. It just kind of makes me wonder how many folks have embarked on a plan to use these intensely addictive drugs have had things go badly awry? What have you seen? Have you ever overheard someone hashing out (no pun intended) a plan to try something and found yourself shaking your head and thinking "This guy's not cut out for that stuff, and I think he's about to make a terrible mistake?" First, I'd like to replace the word "BETTER" with the words "more effective". The truth is Jayb, other than speaking from personal opinion, I've known many, many people who got into all kinds of drugs. Very few got F*ed by them, however, I have seen that happen several times. I know that for some people, smoking crack even once can addict them. I stayed away from Crack due to others experience and knowledge on this. I never knew anyone have that happen after casual use with heroin, however, I cannot say that it wouldn't ever occur. For me, what I learned, is that my body operates best without all that shit. It's interesting to try it all and see what happens (for me), but at the end of the day, there is no real benifit or overiding joy that you get and stays with your like when you are climbing. So I leave it all alone due to the risk-reward issues. But that wasn't the question.
  16. I took a couple of years off (not a sabbatical though) when my second was born after the wife went back to work (she had a better job than me at the time). However, I'd been squirreling money away and could easily pay my 1/2 of the bills- which is what we have always done. I found that doing rentals with the kids was easy, as you could plop a bassinett in a corner and paint the walls with the 5 year old helping by painting the lower part with a brush and then me rolling over it, that kind of thing. I tried to start a sign company as well, but during an install I realized that it clashed with having kids so I stopped it. Not only do I have no regrets, it was an amazing time. When the lil one was old enough to get into a local program that had an amazingly great "teacher", he went in and I went looking for a job. The wife and I balanced duties from there out. I'm handing around the house right now as I type this waiting for my sons driving test. He graduated early from HS few months back, but didn't care if he had a car till now as he's trying to keep his costs down. I think a lot of it is dependent on your own financial profile and skill set. We had low costs and saved our scratch, never spent much on anything, except for the house never borrowed a dime from others, don't eat out and drink Mochas every day,....still kind of live that way, my wife bought her car 12 years ago and is still using it, she walks to work every day as well. I believe that a happy life is a balancing act. Relationships, health (climbing), and money (job/savings) all need to be cautiously looked at and always balanced. Good luck with it Rudy!

    drugs

Never inject anything into your veins. Ever. Sure it's better but your margin for error is drastically reduced. If you snort it and do too much, you normally just throw up. Inject it and you're screwed. Theres many other health issues as well. Smoking Cocaine (Crack or freebasing) is too addictive, pass on that as well.

    Beer or baby?

Older bro was Peace corp in Botswana. (one of the better and wealthier places in Africa) had a woman want to trade her baby for a 12 pack of beer. Very insistent. She wasn't drunk. He declined.

So some is OK? Aside from the obvious legalities or lack of: absolutely. For most people. Yes. I knew a guy who could and did routinely do Heroin for a week or 2 then quit it. Just stopped: but he couldn't ever stop Marlboros. Ever, and he tried many many times. Cigarettes are the worst. Good Cocaine, pure as you get it off the boat is awesome stuff, fantastic even....in moderation. Heroin, in moderation, is pretty damn good as well. The trick is you MUST stop periodically STOP totally and let your body recuperate.

3? I demand a recount. 3? nevermind, I just did an actual count of this and have determined that is the correct qty. Back to the flaming:-)

    drugs

Worst = Huffing gas and paint. Any mixture/combo of chemicals, adding more and more only makes it worse. I include pharmaceuticals here. Most downers like Mad dogs and reds. Nicotine Angel Dust and other horse tranquilizers. Heroin to excess Methamphetamine to excess Cocaine to excess Crack Best drugs in order = Methamphetamine Caffeine Hash Pot (or maybe cocaine first) Cocaine (and then pot, undecided) Heroin -when snorted. Peyote LSD Psyolcybn Thats what I know.

Haha! Not familiar, says the guy with over 8300 posts! Thats Eight Thousand, Three Hundred or so! BTW, you dudes being mean to Kevin, his huge redeeming quality which not many share, YOU have to admit, is that he is generally nice to you all, despite you being so mean to him. I think it's awesome how kind he is in return. I think many of you would tie in with him and be pleased. But that's me and of course your results appear to vary.

    MANSON

Seems strange this just cropped up after so many years. Someone must have decided to come clean _ finally.
  25. This is why you always have to LOCK your biners. Thats all I have. _________________________________________________________________ edited to add this story Ok, one more, Talbot Beilfeld did a well written artical with a bunch of crap exactly like this in it @ 1986 for Outside magazine. He included my earlier incident wherein some kids were unclipping my shit as I solo toproped below. He made it seem all dramatic, and I'll admit to some small sweat beads until I toped out, but after I heard the distinct clipping noises I started yelling up. At that, one kid poked his head over the edge, appeared shocked to see a human being below and they were all gone by the time I got up there. Now thats all I have and I mean it now. For now anyway, thats all.
