  1. Paintballs, snowmobiles, and lawn jobs, we all sure miss you DonnyB :lmao:
  2. You are all welcome to join me in my twice weekly Mandarin speaking class. It's a great experience and the people who teach it are REALLY nice. Almost as if they have some alterior motive
  3. Did Jamin steal John's password or something?
  4. :lmao: Have to admit the guy has done a lot for prosthetic research though. F'n Eh, he's an MIT professor now so whay more can you say
  5. Yeah, let's see some pics
  6. I bought Jim's last two in his sale at the end of November. They place nicely and the extra huge teeth make them especially easy to get started. The laser sonics are nice, but I still love my Grivel Helix screws the best. The hanger seems like it would get in the way with little ice bulges while placing, but this hasn't been a problem. They rackup like no other, too.
  7. The US? You may have something there
  8. I subscribed to the newletter and get it in digest format. I do enjoy seeing what the conditions up there are as I'm going to be making at least one more trip this season up there, maybe more. Can't we give him a Canadian Rockies forum, rather than having him post in the BC/Canada? It would seem that this would be logical, though it's not anywhere near the Cascades and we are CascadeClimbers. Whatever I guess
  9. I guess I implied that I had the fang on my tools, along with the strike attachment. Thanks for clearing it up though
  10. :lmao: Wait, it's not so funny when you have to explain it to someone
  11. Nice pics  Looks like things would hold up to a bit of a thaw, in the freeze/thaw cycle. Probably well below the 0C mark in the darkness.
  12. That sounds like some really deep ass snow. The last time I was up there around this time of year it only took 2:15 to get from the lot to the base of the NEB. Of course, once the sun hit the route and it warmed up above freezing the route started to shit on us, so we had the same result as you. Got one pitch in though, before it was beer-thirty.
  13. Damn. That's pretty fuct!! When dogs come around my house, my five cats gang up on them.
  14. Well, I do rest the fang on the ice, though when I sink my tools usually there's no side to side possible. They are pretty much set. Now when I'm hooking an icicle or on rock, I'm focusing on not moving from side to side anyway, since the placement is usually marginal, so it's not really an issue. It maybe a technique issue, though I wouldn't be the best person to be giving out technique advice. This has been my experience so far, though.
  15. Nice TR. That place looks stellar and I bet the crowds are bearable too  What's the elevation of some of those peaks?
  16. So, did the plastic pieces slide around on the tool, i.e. they were not tightly screwed onto the tool and/or didn't fit properly onto the tool. Or, was it that they made for a slick surface where the plastic contacted the ice causing the bottom of the whole tool to slide around. I think at least I'm a bit confused, maybe others too.
  17. I used to ski pretty hard back in the day, and I loved the bumps. Now that my knee's are shit, I have only been to a resort once in the last two seasons. For some reason, skiing soft pow-pow in the B/C is far more appealing.
  18. Looks like we didn't get a good look at that second pitch. I wonder what it was that we saw, because there was a definate wet streak on the upper right of the bowl above the first pitch. Maybe something new??
  19. Nice ice stokey  I wish I could get across the border with a smile. It usually requires some pleading and a promise to my partner to cut my hair before I come across next time
  20. Zenith look'n pretty good  The Emerald, oops, what's that shizzle to the left there?? The Cable, looks leadable (Jens??, Eric8??) Delusions of Grand Do'er?? The ice on the lake looks passable on foot...I'm not that brave though Champagne, lower half looking a little beat up. Sorry about that
  21. Is it a route where you must flip the camera off on every move? That would be sick
  22. But seriously, if you are not planning on drilling any more than this, doing it by hand would probably work. Plan on a good day to get it done. If it takes you fifteen minutes each, well you can do the math.
  23. Oh, got it! No the 2nd pitch in the gully above what is seen from the road is still thin and wet looking. We didn't walk up to it, but could see lots of blackness between light streaks of ice.
  24. Hell, yeah
