  1. I actuallly had a .25% rate offer for 1 month a while back and should have had it framed. I should have called them and asked if I could make it -.25% so I could make more money upfront while signing a ticking time bomb.
  2. Even in the wake of the subprime debacle, I have before me an invitation for a 1.75% initial rate loan. And a Senior Rate Reduction Specialist is waiting to assist me! As soon as I bend over of course. Personal responsibility. Two words that have increasingly little meaning in modern America. All good things are because of "our" doing but all bad things are somebody else's fault.
  3. When I first started drinking beer back in the dark ages in Montana, the stuff was Brown Derby, $.89 a sixer. Then came Colt 45 malt liquor with more octane. But the best t-shirt was (with mountain pic): If you like my mountains You should see my Busch
  4. Lucky, thanks for letting us know what is possible when you are motivated and have the right lifestyle to git 'er done. And hey, did you find any cameras on any of those climbing trips?
  5. I've met RuMR and he's no big thing. I'd like to meet the go big day trip crowd like zoroastr, off_the_hook, skykilo, TeleRoss, and of course the inimitable Danny H. I have met a couple blasts from the past that were entertaining: Captain Caveman and Uncle Tricky I don't want to meet anybody with zero posts who just registers to PM people.
  6. Wallstein is Mike. So the gloves get put away. But he posts here (occasionally at least).
  7. Calling wallstein...
  8. A picture is worth a thousand words (or at least the number I used in my previous post to describe my yearly process). Note the completely dead nail but not before previous injury has thickened it, probably with the help of some fungus. The extra thickness exacerbates the pressure, accelerating the process until removal is of the utmost importance. And by leaving a live stub we save even worse pain and the price of a medical procedure.
  9. Every year I lose most of my big toe nails during rock season. They are painful and purple for a while then mostly die and I trim them back about 3/4 and then are fine through the season. Then they grow back over winter. This process has repeated annually for many years.

    Turtles

I think they live a long time too. Most likely they will outlive the interest of a youngster, leaving somebody else holding the bag, er shell. It's too bad that a long life span is seen as a negative, but it sure can be when kids are involved.
  11. Boulder is da bomb. It is obscene how much climbing there is in the state. And you're only a 2 hr. plane ride from a Seattle glacier fix (snow and ice are plentiful in CO).

    Monogamy?

A one man wrecking crew of the theory and practice of monogamy. Also the most entertaining post on this thread.
  13. Another engineer (aerospace working for a large NW company) And isn't it ironic that white collar engineer/science/etc. types are interested in climbing whilst spending nearly their entire careers sitting on their butts...
  14. Laura Bush with her twin daughters after their decision to be lower profile.
  15. No, I think it is the next one east and is in its "natural" state. The sandstoners went nuts when Peshastin was closed and would climb anything.
  16. I agree. Can't beat Didier about not getting FFA of Cobra Crack: "The angels were pushing me down"
  17. The world leader that is the biggest threat to stability is the one having the most fun.
  18. A teenager walks into a pharmacy, intent on buying condoms for his upcoming exploits. But he knows nothing about them, so he asks the pharmacist for advice. The pharmacist takes him over to the rack and shows him the different packages. He picks up the single pack and indicates this is the starter. Then he picks up the 3-pack and says this is next once you get into a good groove and expect a few encounters over say a weekend. Then when things get even more lively get the 6-pack for a really big weekend. The kid looks at the rack and asks about the biggest pack. The pharmacist says "Oh that's the 12-pack- it's for married guys. One for January, one for February,....."
  19. I go to PacRim with my Volvo and have been happy. They have loaners which is a big plus.
  20. Most likely he is a professional fundraiser and the police will never even know about it. The police (and other organizations) are offered a low percentage of the donation for doing nothing and just authorizing it. If you really want to annoy them, ask how much of your donation is going to the police.
  21. It's even more fun the other way- you get to chest beat more vertical and the bike ride is downhill! But way to go to beat the permit system and have a great day out- with larches no less. Watch out though- off_the_hook might snap this one up in a few hours if he reads it.....
  22. Little Annapurna is a straightfoward hike with nice views. There are other peaks that can be scrambled up in the Enchantments and just getting to the base of Prusik would be rewarding. Cascadian Couloir on Stuart after the snow melts (i.e. now) would be a mind numbing slog and not recommended I would think. If you decide on a different area, for hiking with a little spice and nice views try Mt. Pugh (Darrington) or Mt. David (Lk Wenatchee). For a scramble on this side, maybe try Del Campo or go to a bookstore and peruse that scrambles in the Cascades book. Have fun and don't epic trying to get your friend up something that is too much.
  23. ILS. Do you have a background in nutrition or did you just get interested when you had issues? And watch out for jon. Rumor has it that he is some kind of big shot on this site.
  24. ILS: Look over some previous posts by glasgowkiss. He would be perfect to defend cc.com in this situation: a really good climber and a no holds barred interweb flame thrower!
  25. Somebody needs to introduce roadking to glasgowkiss.
