Al Jazzera has no credibility. As much as Fox is right wing propoganda trash, Al Jazzera is anti-american propoganda trash. FW, about the conventions, there is probably something to say for GW being the sitting president and the DNC being the event where his opposition defines his platform. Who knows tho... I will say one other thing...like him or hate him, Clinton can flat out give a speech.
  3. What in the name of christ is that??
  4. What an awesome trip, I love the traverse. Just curious...how is 40-45 lbs fast n' light? I must have my pack weight scale off, but that seems like an awful lot of weight, even with 4-5 days of food.
  5. Yes, we didn't do the approach as noted in most of the books. I believe the easier way is to approach via the standard eldorado approach, then go through the inspiration-mcallister col, then drop down to the marble creek glacier. I think most parties now choose this route as it makes use of the well traveled eldorado approach which is good trail all the way. The northwest ridge route is the descent route for this climb, however.

Lars, you might want to actually look into something before you spew. If I was on the right side of politics I would be ashamed to have fox on "my side." The are a complete propoganda network and you don't have to dig too far to figure that out.
  7. I didn't have weapons But I got bombed anyway My ass is sore now

    burning CDs

Yeah, for only 2x the price too!
  9. I would think a sil-nylon tarp and a simple epic bivy would probably be a great combo. You would be quite protected from a downpour and the addition of the tarp would be enough so you could stick your head out, etc. so you probably wouldn't need the raised section in the lightsabre. This might be a good option to consider since it would be much more versitile. Just a thought...
  10. Why? Cause they have somelow angle slopes with one tree and a bunch of rocks nearby?
  11. If it's a big snow covered massif, you are probably looking at mount daniel I would think. Other stuff that direction is the middle fork peaks such as summit chief, bears breast, overcoat, etc. which are probably pretty big n' cool looking from there.
  12. Cool! Me and partner are hoping to do this early next week for some alpine fun. Looks beautiful. I think we are gonna do two days for the beauty of the high ridge bivy! Glad to hear the trekking pole trick worked out for you!
  13. Dean, if you are interested in going in throug a southern approach, check out the approach via the sauk river north fork. It starts near sloan creek. I'm not sure if the road is intact, but if so, it makes a very reasonable approach to the south side of glacier peak, in particular glacier peak meadows. THe trail goes through forest for several miles and then climbs steeply up to the PCT to cross Red pass. It is a very beautiful approach, IMHO.

    Aurora Alert

When I saw this thread title I immediately thought: 1.) You were gonna mention some drug deal or hookers you saw on highway-99/aurora ave 2.) I was wondering what you were doing in Seattle.
  15. Somebody answer my Q, I wanna try it out.

    Stupid House

They are all fucked up. I think Christianity was used in response to some stupid shit that had just happened in the name of Christianity, similar to using the quote with Islam post-9/11. I am no sure of the original context. Agreed, but communism's one redeeming quality was to spur on the space race, IMHO. Yeah, Islam, hmm...that's a tough one, I really can't see a whole lot of good that has come out of that...the religion of Malcolm-X, Mike Tyson and terrorists?

    Stupid House

Religion has done far more total harm than communism. They both suck ass. Thankfully communism is slowly dying off. Religion is only dying off in the progessive areas of the world. To quote once again my oft-quoted grandfather "Communiusm and Christianity, two of the best ideas on paper that turned out to be utter failures."
  18. Shit...you are telling me! Man, what I wouldn't have given for the rasta bivy kit, a good book and a working MP3 player. The fucking snaffles chewed up my headphones the night before!
  19. I doubt FF thinks they'll lose much money considering most climbers stand for personal freedom and environmental protection over business interest and corporate fraud.

    Robin lakes

Has anybody been up there recently? The biggest of the lakes has a great rock to jump off of. I want to know if they still have any frozen parts, cause it's cold enuf as it is.
  21. So how would a person who has never fished once in his life figure out what lakes are good, get started, etc? I've always thought it would be more efficient to fish for long stays around high lakes. I have absolutely no idea where to fish, how to fish, what to buy tho. Somebody needs to make an Alpine Fishing for Climbers FAQ.
  22. No doubt. Then give it a few years and some postings and during some random weekend it will all of a sudden turn into the CC.com clusterfuck of the season.
  23. There has to be cool mtn towns in WY right? Oregon sucks cause there aint no real mountains there.
  24. I'm not sure why Arcteryx all of a sudden threw their pack line into the trash. The kahmsin series is awesome! the needle and RTs are not.
