Maybe I am being naive (I dont know shit about this stuff) but it seems to me that 2300 cases in a country of well over a billion isn't very many. And considering it only has a 3% fatality rate in third world dump, I guess I'm just not totally freaked out. Can somebody give me a reason to be?

That mile will be nothing compared to the 4 miles up you did on the bridge creek road just to get to the 5 mile long trail that got you to the 1/2 mile walk that got you to the 3000 foot climb up Dragontail.

Sweet pics, pete, thanks for posting!

Only 6 or 7 feet of snow at WA pass, that's pretty depressing.

Trav, when do you plan on going in? I was considering heading in that way Sunday. -josh

Not that it'll be any help, but I went up Navaho early last winter. The view across into the Stuarts is awesome from there!

I generally roll mine up. Then, as soon as I get home I fully open it up and hang it to air dry. I think as long as you are doing that, how it is for the little while in the pack probably doesn't make a big difference.

Anybody think there is a snowball's chance in hell they'll have the road open this weekend?

8 singles, 4 doubles. I, too, like the bluewater sewn spectra runners. light and strong. I don't always carry all 12, however, it depends on the route. doubles come in extra handy on alpine routes for slinging horns, trees, dead bodies, etc...

I should start a website dedicated to bringing folks together for duels stemming from internet trash talking. We could take bets, etc.

The integral designs silshelter looks awesome! That might be one of my next buys. I've heard they do suffer from condensation bad, but I think creative shelter construction could help this out.

For anybody who hasn't seen the MEC lightweight Bivy, it's pretty sweet. http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT<>prd_id=118583&FOLDER<>folder_id=590703&bmUID=1049349972721 As far as I can tell, integral designs makes it for them. It's basically a totally stripped ID bivy. It's made out of their nice waterproof/breathable fabric (same stuff as ID and bibler tents), but lacks zippers, bug netting, etc. at only 1 pound, I think it's a great comprimise between the glorified garbage bags and the full on bivies.

I'll take that second pic. Bomb the first one. Mmm...I've never been a huge pamela fan, but man, that's a great pic...

I swear you must be the most cynical person I've ever "met" But, yeah, you're probably right. I do, however, think she was a rescue of opportunity considering they had her holed up in some hospital in a largely coallition controlled area.

WTF? Why should you get free internet access? You are getting a service for god's sake. Pay like the rest of us. Obviously anybody who is going to supply you with an internet connection is going to do so for a business reason, and then generally involves you giving them money.

She's definitely the female equivilant of an escalade with 22" chrome rims.

Right dude...I haven't been trying to win any argument. We are arguing over opinions, to which any 5 year old realizes there is no "winning." So, BTW, you never supplied us with the name of your preffered ride.

I'm going to attempt to end this once and for all... Some of us like cars, some of us like SUVs, some of us like both, and others hate both. Can we all just agree to hate on the posers who drive wasteful vehicles of any sort? C'mon we all hate posers right? It goes for cars too...I can't stand seeing yuppies driving porsches. Get a BMW if you want to be a yuppie poser, leave a 911 to somebody who can actually drive it.

These are sweet boots, I have a pair. They are suited for wide feet, however. I have wide feet and they fit me very well.

Since when did I say landrovers are cool? Early on this thread I said they were crap and broke down a lot. I also never said anything about soccer moms are ok to drive them, I simply said that guys probably dont want to look like one. I stick to my guns, and I'll say it like I think it is. Giant SUVs suck. They are largely worthless. About 1% of the people who have them actually need them and the rest of the people buy them for the idiotic image they represent. They are a symbol of excess stupidy and waste, and I'd love to see a hell of a lot less of them on the road. BTW, I realize you weren't planning on kicking my head in. And I know I might meet some of these people some day. Some of them I already have met. I have plenty of friends who drive SUVs. I tell them that they suck, enumerate the reasons why, and try my best to get them to purchase something better for their next vehicle. If you really care, I drive an audi.

FWIW, I found sprint's out of city coverage sucked ass when I had it. I switched to verizon because my main concern is my cell phone works when I'm in small towns off the main I-5/I-90 corridors. Both verizon and AT&T seemed best for this.

Yup, about as clever as your oh so witty sarcasm.

Yes, but it's damn fun to run rings around the logically by pointing out that the buddhist guy and the jewish guy and the muslim guy are all just as damn sure of it as he is, and in their minds he is going somewhere bad.

Attention: 1/5 of the earth's population, minimum is going to hell. Yup, that's right. Any individual religion only makes up about 20% of earth's population, so that means whoever is "right", well, the other 4/5 of us are going to hell. It always cracks me up when my bible beater friends just "know" they are right about god, and it's not at all possible that the buddhist guy is really correct, or, gasp, that all of it is both equally right and wrong at the same time.
