  1. Thread in question seems to have been disappeared.
  2. I haven't been over to check the wall yet, but I'm skeptical, we did get quite a bit of rain out here, including Monday morning. Offhand I'd guess it needs another day, but I'll confirm that.
  3. I still have a Whillans though it only sees use as a non-OSHA approved harness for roof work. I'd probably loan it out if someone wants to experience the old days, and might even be able to dig up a rack of pins and a pair of Robbins blue boots...
  4. Everyone has to believe in something. I believe I'll have another beer.

    Crazy talk

So what do you think, is the West Face of SEWS overrated at 5.11a? I didn't fall, therefore I think it can't be 5.11.

    Hey lawyers...

I can guarantee that the legal advice you receive on this board is worth every penny you pay for it!

    Crazy talk

C'mon Murray, one can be "all" if its a very small sample. Though I'd have to say I'm going with your second hypothesis...

    Its coming

That bumper cars from the balcony video? Definitely PDX, I remember it well. K5 is a Seattle station though.
  9. The two belay loops on his harness make it clear that this "instructor" is all about safety.
  10. Great TR, you tell a great tale. That canyon in Zion sounds like a grand adventure.
  11. Good to hear. What was the verdict on the tumor and your prognosis? Objective danger isn't just found in the mountains, is it?

    We remember

Yes Feck, we're back from the shadows again. Excellent reference, it made my evening. Oh, and thanks for the link Jim, George Will, while often wrong headed, is usually worth reading. If I had the time and gumption I'd dredge up his columns from a decade ago, I think he may have changed his tune over the years. Interesting that this bastion of the intellectualish right is no longer a cheerleader for our occupations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

    We remember

Presidential candidate Herman Cain sings this touching tribute... [video:youtube]
  14. You're just teasing me, aren't you prole? Obama didn't really name Krugman Sec of the Treasury? Krugman's columns have been bang on all year, I'm in danger of becoming a fan boi.
  15. That was my experience carrying on a mondo rack, but I've only done that once in the last decade.

    Great Cause

Just because its in Spray doesn't mean you guys have to be dicks about it. Scott's doing a good thing here, and there's an awful lot of messed up vets coming out of our comparatively low casualty pair of conflicts. Regardless of what you think about the wars, the guys in the field don't make the policy. Now, if he was running to raise funds for Congressional health insurance I might sing a different tune...
  17. Nice vid of a good guy.
  18. I recently made a trip into the Sawtooth Wilderness in Idaho, including the very popular Saddleback Lakes basin below the Elephant's Perch, and let me tell you, the permit hassles were epic. I had to fill out a card at the trailhead.
  19. Good link j_b, thanks.
  20. Kinky's reasons are silly and trivial, but perhaps that's appropriate coming from a fluff writer. Lets make the whole country look like Texas? Uh, no thank you.
  21. They weren't broke when they instituted the fee demo program, so it doesn't seem adequate for that, does it? As Bill points out, much of the money collected goes to enforcement of the fee and associated program costs, not recreational enhancement, and I'm with Fairweather on his list of closed roads we're not getting any action on. I do appreciate the Clear Creek road in Darrington getting reopened so quickly though, that was very welcome and surprising.

    The Dt's

I've got "Filthy Habits" in mp3 version, pm me if you wanna do some kinda dropbox thing, it's a bit much to just do email attachments.
  23. Yeah for Mel, she's one of the more charming and positive posters here, hope you have a, err, romantic birthday.
  24. I've parked just on the other side of the sign at a bunch of places and never had an issue, even in high profile spots like the aforementioned Blue Lake TH & White Pass where the car sat for 4 days. The 1/4 mile idea sounds really nebulous and difficult to prove, who gets out a tape measure to determine where 1320 feet from the sign is? What if its a hill, are we talking 1320 level feet or feet along the incline plane? A marked boundary is the only thing that can make sense.
