  1. No kidding, I had no idea he'd look so hot in drag! Nice vacation porn TR, I keep trying to convince my wife that she'd enjoy a trip to Tropical Paradise but she keeps insisting she'd rather take a freighter to Siberia. That's not just a sarcastic reply either, it really is on her list of dream vacations.
  2. Well in December, yeah, no argument there
  3. That first one-star review is a great piece of work. Conquistadors of the Useless trumps Annapurna any day.
  4. Uh, lots of ambitious people are assholes? I know, that's not a new thought.
  5. Right side of Monday Morning Slab is 5.2 or some such, and not in the bombardment zone on Glacier Point. There is fun boulder field exploration on the trail from the Ahwahnee to Mirror Lake too, scrambling is as much fun as climbing at that age, and you can find some chalked up problems to keep you entertained as well. Its pretty shady in there, which can be an asset in July. Conversely, escape the heat and go to Tuoloumne. Hike the kids up the descent route on Lembert Dome for a great views and a sense of climbing a summit, then play on the glacier polish at the bottom, a guaranteed good time. You could also rope them up something like the Beginner's Route if you've got another climber - it is 4 pitches long and traverses a bit so you'll need an adult at either belay.

    KEVBONE OMG!

Hoh man, this is just the tip of the iceberg, TIP OF THE ICEBERG!!! I've found a very important document (LINK!!! READ IT NOW!!!) on the internet you should all read about the NSA's secret mind control program. Here's the reviews of the information, which includes court documents and radio interviews:
  7. Salient advice on starting a climbing blog, from our friends at Asshole Climbers: link
  8. Careful Gene, nothing unites the Beatards like an outsider critiquing their train wreck. Personally, I think if your wife is telling you that you're an asshole, a little self reflection might be appropriate.

    TURKEY DAY

I find it suspicious that you registered just eight days after The Rooster.

    Disturbing

Now, this is disturbing. Probably not safe for everyone's work. [video:youtube]
  11. Well, in a funny way we did Pete. Its just that many people are uncomfortable using the term "occupation" to describe what we've been doing ever since, but its much more accurate than saying "war".
  12. There was a package of Twinkies nailed to the wall in my rental house for four years with no sign of mold or decay.
  13. Pitch two was added by someone else, and it sounds like they replaced the anchor too (a damned good thing too). By "unique feature" do you mean the roof with the hole in it? There were no bolts above that, and no bolt at the stance either, but a few below in the layback section. The first time we did it there was enough snow in the gully that some hardish moves were covered up. We came back and had to add a bolt, and replace two that had broken, including an anchor bolt - I think we may have had some of the legendary bad batch of Rawls, though I suppose the damage could have come from rockfall or that weird ice creep that can cause problems out there. In any case, I'd consider any original bolt on The Jinx highly suspect.
  14. Thanks for the pics John, I never met Austin but I've been a huge admirer of his work for years. What a life that man led.

    Sobo's Updates...

Ssshhhh rmncwrtr! You must be vewy vewy quiet, we are hunting wabbits.
  16. you are getting remarkably good at throwing substanceless non-sequiters out there, but unfortunately nothing else. What happened? I've outsourced the substance to my content providers, Joseph and JayB. I only have time for drive-by spray, no room for reading or consideration in the schedule. I'm guessing you must be between projects.

    Sobo's Updates...

I thought I'd bump this to wish Sobo a happy 60th birthday. I trust that all is fine, though its been pretty quiet on the Sobo front for the last month...
  18. If the concern is autism, I think that horse has already left the barn, because there's a whole lotta perseveration going on here.
  19. video I didn't know where else to put this ultimatum regarding gay marriage, so I posted it here. Pretty funny, but they do say "fuck", so watch it appropriately.
  20. The OPV AIDS hypothesis was thoroughly investigated by people who lent the concept credibility until the science soundly repudiated it. You can make a far better case that OPV contamination by SV40 may be involved with some cancers - but not AIDS. Sorry Joseph, I should have said "like" rather than like. You know, sarcasm invocation.
  21. Here's a fine video representation of the Republican Party responding to forces beyond its control: Trust me, its totally safe for work.
  22. That all depends on how you define "climate". "I did not have climate with that woman." No Kimmo, I haven't read all your links in their entirety, life is just a little too full for that kind of fun right now. I do like the notion that a Massachusetts ambulance chaser has discovered that AIDS came from polio vaccines.
  23. Warning, recent research has revealed that tinfoil hats actually amplify the bad waves, and that the whole promotion of said hats is a terrorist plot. Also, tinfoil gloves are not recommended for electrical work.
  24. It could be related to the findings of this recent study: Mothers who have influenza during pregnancy are twice as likely to have autistic children. link Turns out docs are recommending that pregnant mothers get a flu shot. Kimmo, while you've found Healy who supports a certain hypothesis, the results of studies and the consensus of almost all researchers on the subject concludes that vaccines do not cause autism. This is just the flip side of the occasional climate change denier: the strange notion that fairness means giving equal weight to a single opinion that runs contrary to a thousand others, especially if it confirms your own bias.
  25. Bad Pharma by Ben Goldacre is supposed to be a pretty great book on the subject. Looks like it won't be out until January: http://www.amazon.com/Bad-Pharma-Companies-Mislead-Patients/dp/0865478007 It is simultaneously possible for the industry to both provide vital medications and be utterly corrupt, those are not contradictory.
