Good question, because it was a decidedly questionable post on my part. No, we don't post porn here, but I saw this on a different climbing site and thought it was so funny, and clearly linked to the recurring Clucking threads, as if the film makers saw the parody and took it seriously, that I just had to toss it out there. Hence the very clear warning, and if anyone had a complaint I was more than willing to take it down. I still think its in questionable taste, and if it hadn't had climbing content or a conceptual link to this thread I wouldn't have done it. If any of the other mods thought I was out of line, I'd most certainly have heard about it, so I don't think it passed due to any "protected status" I may enjoy. If it offends you Pink, let me know and by all means I'll disappear it.

You could also walk off around the left end of the cliff and skip the rap entirely. Watch for snakes. We did that line on Saturday, it was pretty damned fun. It's kind of nice that the top of The Bend is not peppered with chain rap stations.

Hey RuMR, can I change your title to DILF? Please?

It's not about being conservative, it's about respect. This thread is funny and all, but I completely understand Fairweather's point, it was my initial reaction as well.

So does anyone know more info about this place (Off??) Sent a PM to JY and MF but no response. Anyone got their email address to try and get more info? Nope, I know nothing, though you could PM Lucky here, he's likely to be in the know. Makes me curious though. The Columbia Granite Quarry south of Rainier used to be an area before they restarted quarrying, but those routes are all blasted to flinders now, yours for just $25 per ton. I bet the small Eatonville area is on the Mashel River, parking up at the curve at the top of the hill headed towards MRNP from Eatonville? Seems like I saw a couple pictures somewhere somewhen...

SAR People - Question regarding fundraising
Off_White replied to Off_White's topic in Climber's Board
Yeah, this confirms what I was thinking when I opened the envelope and was looking at it. They initially approached me via phone and I told them I never donate money over the phone (true) and could they send me something in writing. Makes sense: an extra layer of bureaucracy, even if legit, just spends some of that money on their infrastructure rather than putting it to the use I want it to go to. Thanks all. -
What, and the French have no homeless people?
-
There's a decent wind sheltered bivy at the end of the hand traverse, a pitch before the Gendarme, but I don't think you'd fit a tent.
-
I had a come on for donations from Washington Search and Rescue Association, a part of NWSAR which claims to support SAR groups. Is this outfit legit and familiar to people? According to the Sec of State this is a new group, so there's no track record from 2007, and I know there was a pretty fradulent "fundraising" group awhile back. Anyway, my company is game to kick some money towards SAR, but I want to make sure it goes to the right place, and I figured you folks would have the skinny on the best way to do that.

Gea Phipps was someone I used to know around Olympia, she's the one who took the actual whipper in that opening scene. It's funny, because when it comes to the fall she's looking right into the camera and it's really obvious she's not the actress, but I think the fall itself just blows that observation out of most folks minds.

and let me just say thank God CNN took the time to give us the details in bullet form. That's because they've outsourced reporting to Laos and bullet points are easier for ESL reporters.

It's a pity Americans can't be as responsible as the French

Kalymnos, Greece looks pretty swell too... of course, there's no skiing there.

Are you talking about the game they play with sticks or the one with the funny shaped ball?

I hear that if you stop sitting down to pee Doug, this feeling you have about remotes and watching Oprah will pass! Hey, I had to endure the channel stutter surf for a full hour and a half back in October when my buddy first got satellite TV. I swear he never spent more than a minute on any channel in that hour and a half. I had to give up and read climbing magazines, it was that bad. And hey, sitting down to pee means you don't have to open your eyes, makes it easier to go back to sleep. Hmmm, maybe that answer's Bug's question.
-
You mean incessantly changing the channel every five seconds until all 200 channels have passed, then starting over to see what they missed? I'd rather watch Oprah for two hours than put up with Attention Deficit Remote Disorder.
-
Yeah, all jokes about submitting them to me for testing aside, you should feel just fine about using those. As Curt mentioned, tie up some new slings, 1" tube in various colors for size identification and knotted up works just fine for cheap. I like a slightly longer sling than stock on those. I'm a tall guy, so the extra length on the rack is no big deal and I prefer the sling extension, but YMMV.
-
Yup, pins instead of milled in cam stops. Looks a lot like my rack. Looks like you've got the fat trigger bars rather than the earlier skinny ones. Probably more like 15 than 10 years?
