  1. me neither.
  2. are talking about tree thinning in the forests? cause if we are it is a good idea. either that, or we let the wildfires burn their natural course. if we dont do one or the other, we will have big wildfires.
  3. Not with birds, but down here around San Diego, we have seasonal closures for a few crags the first part of the year due to sensitive raptor habitat. And, the FS is serious about enforcing the closures--$10,000 fine. I believe that closures are there for reasons...and should/need to be respected... uhm... what do you think a raptor is?
  4. they needed justification to ban pope. if they didn't ban you, it would look a litle funny.
  5. yeah no worries with making death threats though. that is cool. talk about bolts...
  6. i like letting the wood holds get naturally polished. have some of teh bondo/sand holds too. the slippery ones help me on my foot work and my accuracy. it really does help. the only think i can think of for texturing wood holds would be to use large grit sand paper every once in a while. everything else'd probably crack off (like you said). watch the splinters!
  7. i wanna be famous so i can have my NEW VODKA FORUM!
  8. what works real nice is to 'borrow' some olg gymnastic mats to layer with teh mattress. then you have dual density foam just like bouldering pads. i got some worn out ones for free from my school. haven't grounded out yet with that combination.
  9. nah... i killed a sport climber and stole his stick clip. i just use it to fight off all the american plastic girls while i am climbing 8a gear routes.
  10. yes and they are much nicer. i wouldn't touch american boobs with a 10 foot stick clip. not when the alternative is so readily available.
  11. i have it mounted into the wall and the bottom is 1.5 feet of vertical and then a 45 degree to the ceiling. i am using my old matress as a crash pad and i built most of the holds myself and they are holding up quite well. my favorites are actually just blocks of wood at angles. keeps me from getting sloppy. i didn't texturize and i built it into the wall, so that saved money. admittedly mine is a cheapo, but i dont need more. just a fix wheni cant get outside.
  12. i think yoda you are.
  13. yeah. holland gave me a quick and proppa intro to spakecake and damn if the guy next to me didn't scarf a shit load. i, after warnings, paced myself and had a great time. he decided he needed to use the restroom in teh coffeeshop and reached for the doorhandle and fell straight backwards hitting his head on the ground. shitty deal.
  14. tru 'nuff
  15. screw that! you can do it for much cheaper if you are willing to work more. i did it for 1/6th the price. make your own holds out of homeade molds with bondo/sand mix, wood and stuff... use scraps form construction lots and shit. get creative and you will do it for cheap. mabe buy a few nicer holds later once you have the shit up. buy the holds used from a person that spent $1500 and has to pawn off his wall.
  16. yeah guy. keep me posted on the skaha action. i will be around them parts.
  17. granville island winter ale. faqin A!
  18. ma bad dawg.
  19. i failed a belay test there once cause i didn't know the verbal commands (the difference between take and tension). that is my claim to fame.
  20. This is the best thing anyone has said in this thread! I moved it to spray because it clearly doesn't belong in the ice conditions forum. It did, for the 1st half of the 1st page...too bad the rest had nothing to do with ice climbing. If anyone has a problem with that...one word thats two words lamby 3
  21. who is the dude in the bottom of the photo? looks like he is climbing some stetcky rubble!
