    Dead

    This is true.
  4. now that's more than we need to know...
  5. Tualatin store is still open. They closed the one up in Delta Park (actually was convenient for last minute supplies heading North on a Friday...)
  6. Damn you're easy to ruffle! Or are you just grumpy because you hurt your finger in the gym, in the middle of the winter? Well I guess I can understand that. See now Doctor I'm looking for alternatives to actually climbing indoors for a few months, and would like to do all I can to get strong in the meantime, speciffically with regards to holding on. I've got plenty of ways to keep the rest of me in shape... Do you really think absolutely nothing other than climbing will help?
  7. brilliant!
  8. Duh. But right now it's February and I'm in no mood to kick down the duckets for a gym membership... Getting outside consistantly is tough... But there's plenty of time to squeeze chew toys while I review poorly thought out code...
  9. I did a few searches but didn't turn up much - Wondering about the efficacy of hand strengtheners - spring loaded doohickeys, the BD 'donut', etc. I'm not looking to pull tiny crimps and monos, just to help beat back the pump for those longer efforts. Obviously climbing is the best answer, and stepping the cardio up a notch would also help. But is a hangboard routine better? Wrist curls with free weights? Thanks.
  10. I also heard a rumor last weekend that there's another climbing gym opening up in SE around 82nd. We'll see.
  11. Seems some airlines are charging for skis now regardless. Delta allows for two checked bags, one of which can be skis at no additional charge - sounds like you need to pack two bags instead of three. Try carrying on da boots. Also, pack the crap out of the ski bag with clothing and softgear* - will protect the skis and get you towards the two mag min. * be careful packing, sharp edges can easily tear the shit out of whatever their packed next to if not done right.

Check out 'Tougher Than Tough: Story of Jamaican Music' box set. Little pricey but it'll open up a whole new world...
  14. Yeah sheyat, Smith was so nice that I forgot all about skiing. Well at least until the drive back over the passes, then I cried.
  15. Smith T'was like springtime down there.
  16. You'll end up on the other side, but there is a walk off of the Smith Rock Group - scramble uphill to the ridge, keep following a faint trail to the West (one slightly exposed section but easy) until everything opens up and a faint trail switchbacks down the hill.
  17. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance is a great book for developing teenage philosophers Honestly it prompted me to read all kinds of stuff after that. Of course Lila is very suck.

Sounds like I picked a good weekend to get stuff done around the house. That Meadows forcast reminds me of the typical east coast ski report - "Loose and Frozen Granular" - translating to "Coarsely Chopped and Solid Ice".

Did anyone head up to Hood for turns this past weekend (other than the poor Meadows Season pass owners)?
  20. fuuuuuuuck!
  21. Yup, with a snowpark pass.
  22. The best beacon is the one you've practiced with.
