    The Other Side

How exactly has your life and freedoms been adversely affected since Jan 2001 as a direct result of Bush's religious convictions? Wait a few years then look at the Supreme Court.... Roe v Wade being overturned would be exactly that... Or Ashcroft's insistance that I cannot decide to end my own life? Stem Cell research? My family has a long history of Parkinsons (a truely horrible disease)...
  3. Bigots? http://thechrisproject.com/images/map_nowvsthen.jpg
  4. I've done it. Not too bad.
  5. Dude you have a sick and twisted sense of humor that I normally share, but I'm really not following you here. Or did you have an unfortunate incident as a fraternity pledge that involved a three foot bong? Hmmm. If your project consists of some kickass ski tobagon, they're all yours.
  6. I have two pairs of old DH skis if anyone wants them, free. In Portland. - Atomic (?) 195cm with Look bindings. - Volkl P9 Slalom 198cm with Tryolia 490 bindings (sweet skis, if the year is 1994) Or are there any ski swaps coming up I could donate these to?
  7. No skis, but I think I have an old red graffix somewhere if you want it...
  8. Ahh, played tons as a kid, but that was in place where all the ponds froze...
  9. "Gore floss" Where do you get something like that?

    Hey off white

Well since this election was so close, with no overwhelming mandate, I'm just sure Bush will make a concious and concerted effort to reach out accross the isle and advocate bi-partisan solutions without the ideological extremes.
  11. Right. Well I started with a quicklink but then I bought a locking steel biner.
  12. I've used a gri-gri many times. Usually I'll tie a few back up knots. RBW got me into using a steal biner because it's easy to get it crossloaded. Watched TG a few weeks ago follow free with an Ushba, pretty neat device. The advantage to that (or any ascender) is that you can fix or weight the rope at the bottom and you'll get a pretty good self feed.
  13. From Snoboy's link, regarding the X: When the Wright brothers first took to the air in 1903, there was no need for coding airports since an airport was literally any convenient field with a strong wind. However, the National Weather Service did tabulate data from cities around the country using a two-letter identification system. Early airlines simply copied this system, but as airline service exploded in the 1930's, towns without weather station codes needed identification. A bureaucrat had a brainstorm, and the three-letter system was born, giving a seemingly endless 17,576 different combinations. To ease the transition, existing airports placed an X after the weather station code. The Los Angeles tag became LAX.
  14. Failure is no longer inevitable. Perhaps now I'll start climbing hard.
  15. Jay Peak, Mad River Glen are far but probably your best options for the most snow. There's always Tuckermans in the spring time. The good news is that you get to hone your technique on some of the finest blue ice the resorts in this country have to offer.
  16. I ski on Shuksans and Dynafits and have had great luck with both. Shuksans are pretty light but still perfom well. My only complaint is a that after a couple of seasons they seem to be getting a little beat. I did however get a lot out of them with even a handful of days of inbound skiing. I'd be interested in hearing about the Volkls though, always thought they make the best DH skis. Never had a problem with the Dynafits durability and have used them on some pretty hard (icy) and steep stuff.
  17. Could be this? http://www.katu.com/news/story.asp?ID=72061 Visibility was pretty tough Saturday on the S side.
