Also, I was thinking all the belay stations on Dreamer (and Safe Sex) should be changed to chains. Since I didn't finish it 2 days ago, I'd go back with chain and links. I hate that rat nest shit of webbing! In my opinion the rappel situation on that whole wall is a disaster. If it was my place to do so I would install a direct rap route with chains or rap hangers right down the fall line from the top of the wall and cut all the webbing out.
  2. I think that the bolt count on Mattp's topo is not correct for the second to last pitch.
  3. if I lived in Minnesota I'd probably wear plastics everyday! brrrrrrrrrr

what this thread needs is FLAIR :
  5. I didn't tell you anything cause I don't know anybody called 'snoboy'. But yes I have seen a pair of Dynafit boots break apart over the course of a 3 week trip. Those stupid hinged girder things along the sides cracked in several places. (I don't know if they have them anymore). The buckles bent and I think a rivet popped. The stitching on the liner ripped out.
  6. the 9/11 grounding of air traffic over continental US gave a unique opportunity to measure the cooling effect of high altitude contrail haze on ground temperature. There was a paper last month in Science or Nature or some other rag about it.
  7. what about the Avro Arrow?
  8. not funny

  10. The direct start was not difficult and was over with quickly. Not the most memorable part of the climb, for good or for bad.
  11. I couldn't understand what 'highest erect cedars' meant until I looked down from the climb. They are mature cedars that are big enough to have been logged but weren't, not the scrappy little bushy cedars that clog the trail. From where you will probably hit the base of the slabs from the dry stream bed head right and up, there's flagging tape.
  12. page top? woo! I will not be in 11worth but will be in Pemberton rocking to CCR and trying to work my way through a quarter of a homebrew keg have fun! [ 09-23-2002, 01:16 PM: Message edited by: fern ]

  16. The New Science of Strong Materials (or Why You Don't Fall Through The Floor) and its sequel Structures (or Why Things Don't Fall Down) ... the sequel is slightly more nail-biting and has better pictures More appropriate for cc.com is 'A Confederacy of Dunces' [ 09-19-2002, 04:04 PM: Message edited by: fern ]
  17. I dunno if you and jon are still looking at the 500 Internal Server Error stuff from a couple weeks ago, but I still get the same errors as ever before even with the chat bit gone.

  19. I went climbing with 3 people last Sunday and one of them refused to carry the rope even though he only had slippers and a harness in his pack. And then when I blew out the sole of my shoe no-one else would put a rope on anything so we went and ate ice-cream instead. At least I didn't have to pay for that too. What a bunch of losers
  20. quote: Originally posted by RURP: And what about "DJ Highball"? DJ Highball could not get his gear and rekkids through canadian customs. There was some other dude on the 'wheels of steel'. Perhaps this was the missing magic ingredient that woulda turned my frown upside down. I am all for raising money for access projects so I will refrain from making more negative comments. I hope the Vantage and Smith Rock events are enjoyable for all. [ 09-16-2002, 05:15 PM: Message edited by: fern ]
  21. if it's the same as the one in Squampton on Saturday it will be sooooo weak. as an example we were treated to slides of people bouldering indoors. . At least I won a pencil case as a door prize.
  22. I also have a Arc'teryx Gamma SV. It doesn't breath well, so not so useful in warm temps. It is not very insulated so not so useful in cold temps. But it makes me look cool and outdoorsy when I walk around campus.
