Remember how long you had to tell him that "only sissies refuse to shave their back for me.." until finally he relented and found out that he LOVED IT and felt so sexy in those butt flossers?! So I guess what I'm saying is, look at it like someone who needs a little goading to turn him onto something he'd probably really enjoy...probably the same way you got involved with Mickey's. "Go ahead Dwayner, what are you to much of a wussy to give this Mickey's a try?" Get me compadre?

anti-FeeDemo victory, June 15 is Action Day
willstrickland replied to freeclimb9's topic in Climber's Board
Here's the reality of a fixed anchors ban: Who the hell is going to enforce it? By nature, the anchor is fixed to allow retreat/descent. Now for a Freddie to access the anchor they'll have to climb to it, and then how are THEY going to get down? Even if they pull it, next party leaves another sling/nut/pin...endlessly. I figure even the Freddie climbers who would be enforcing it are astute enough to not actually pull the necessary anchors, fixed or no. Surely they can see the laughability of a f*&$% set of steel cables allowing the gapers to summit Half Dome vs. a sling that no one except those using it would ever see...and I agree, Wild Wilderness is no "friend" or "spokesman" for me. -

Pro Row? Don't know that one... Maybe we should give it a day or two and let more people weigh in, we've got a week. Ahh Mary's, I was there Sun night meeting some bros who just moved to town from Tahoe...literally parked the U Haul on Ankeny and went straight in the bar. I dropped a full pint in my lap I was so drunk (had put in some quality time at the Kingston when they called)...boy I have my moments sometimes.

I love Dot's (I'm sure you can all tell I lived in the Clinton/Division neighborhood by now), but seating might be a challenge. Barley Mill is cool even if it's a McM joint, and I've got a friend that works there so we might even get hooked up on some cheap brew if he's working. Other options: Vincente's Pizza (great 'za and good beer as well, seating should be easy). Or maybe the Kingston on Burnside and about 20th, I spent a good bit of time there this weekend while my van was out of commission. We could also take over at the Tugboat, place is small (smallest brewpub in PDX) but good beer, friendly staff, right off Burnside at about 6th. Glad I started this thread early, this might take a while.

Yeah Wes, that would be the Space Room...one of the two stiffest drinks in town...other place is right across the street Sewickly's Addition (fondly known as the Sickly Addiction). If you ever want bang for the buck those are the places. As an added bonus, Tonya Harding sometimes works at Sewickly's. So someone have ideas for a different place? Rob? Pdxclimber? Dave Anne Jennie? Imorris? Somebody anybody? Kennedy? Buhler...Buhler

For Sale 5.10 Heuco's old style - size 42.5
willstrickland replied to pmaresca's topic in The Yard Sale
Hate to rain on your parade, but there are lots of places liquidating their old stock of the old model Huecos for $75 and less, new never worn. A lower price might get you more replies (not from me though as I have the new model and love them...didn't care for the old models, but the new ones are the perfect all day easy route shoe) -
My pref is usually the LuckyLab as well, but it's really loud in there and maybe it's time to have one somewhere other than SE.

Uh right. Dru, I thought the same thing then checked the profile...too young, wrong city, wrong occupation. So it's "the other MK" I guess.

Alright, I'm calling a pub club for Thurs May 9th. Who's up for it? Where should we have it? No "change the date" please, we're trying to make it happen when TG is in town and I'd like to drink with you fools before I head for the valley the following week.

Its good to be a pirate ARRRRRR!!!! Werd Tex! Secrets of the booty trade: ALWAYS wear a helmet while scoping for ground score...how do you think that shit ends up at the base? Look up in the trees...found more than one cam snagged in the tree limbs at Church Bowl. Climb Nutcracker or Arches after a thunderstorm. Two nut tools do wonders when trying to clean stuck gear. Look for the newbies with a shiny new rack...follow them up something (and wear a helmet!) they're bound to leave something. The flake before the 5.4 ramp on Nutcracker eats .75 camalots for lunch...extracted two in two trips..and gave them back to their owners at the top both times. And the real scoop on booty in the valley: Curry Village Pizza deck in the afternoon...lots of booty around there.

I've tried 2, 3, and 4. I typically use 4, BUT I also use opposed steps rather than ladders. Being able to stem in the aiders seems to help me quite often. If I were going the two aider route, I'd opt for the ladder style so you could get both feet in the same step if need be. For hooks, I carry 3 cam hooks (1 of each size), a talon, cliffhanger, 3" hook, and leeper pointed. Woe to the dude on a bathook ladder with only a talon. CMI? Don't know what you mean. I've used Petzl and Jumar, prefer the Petzl.

I was taught at a very early age that you command respect by giving respect. I must admit, I'm a bit surprised at late with your seemingly fragile ego...not trying to flame you here, you just seem to be "in a delicate way" the last couple of months.

My choices for rock: 1. Carhardtt double knee (logger) pants...$40 They stand up to J-tree rock and keep on keepin on 2. Dickies...usually the light grey color.$16. Cotton poly blend, they have some stretch and cut slim not baggy, and they're tough. I cut 'em off about mid calf so they'll just cover the knees when chimneying. 3. Std military BDU pants cut off mid-calf. These are too expensive now though...$30.

Details Larson, details. I'm not saying I haven't done it, but I don't think it's likely. Go ahead and show me a quote of me touting my own climbing skills. Yes, that's a challenge. Maybe you win, maybe I win, but it's certainly not something I do alot and/or intentionally. Show me the benjamins ya slog king.

OK forgive my ignorance, but I don't pay attention to the rotation up there because I'm down here. Planning on making a trip to Index and trying to stay around for the pubclub the following Tues. So...where will it be (not bar, but Sea,Tac,Eastside?) on May 7 and May 14?

Where can I find the cheapest GU?
willstrickland replied to Bug's topic in Fitness and Nutrition Forum
Bike shops usually have the deals. I get mine at Performance, ran a big sale on cytomax and GU around the holidays...cytomax was halfprice or something and GU was quite a bit cheaper than anywhere else I found.
