  1. Really bad rock. Also infested with snakes, bears, rabid goats. Rockfall is continuous. It is cold, and always rains. There is a 47 mile bushwack approach through nothing but slide alder and devils club. It is haunted by an old miner's ghost, and thick with mosquitos. Also ticks, and locusts. I hear someone even got a mysterious case of syphillis from a rare bacteria that grows on the lichen there. Stay away at all costs. Don't do it man. For the love of god, don't do it!
  2. Yup, gatoritas. Bigwall staple. Plastic handle jug of montezuma, couple liters green gatorade, drink half the gatorade for hydration, top it off with the killer 'quila. Good for what ails ya. :tup
  3. Jack the bid up yourself. have your wife bid on it or something. Or start using a minimum reserve price or whatever.
  4. You talking about mom or the kiddo? Congrats Luke.
  5. Mepps and Rooster Tail both make spinners with a single, rather than treble. Stores up here stock them because there are lots of "single hook, artificial only" waters for grayling. But if you use them, you are a wanker supreme. Hardware chucking is for n00bs and loUzers. It's ok to teach your 5 year old with, but a little pathetic for a grown man.
  6. In Yankee stadium, you're probably right...probably in Philly as well, but only because their fan base are cock sucking assholes. I grew up a Braves fan. We sucked when I was a kid, but got on a very, very, very long streak winning something like 12 division titles in a row (until this year when the streak will finally end). There were always contingents of fans for the visiting teams and we embraced them. Anyone who will show up to support their team on the road is OK in my book. Hell, I've seen the Braves play on the road plenty of times and gotten warm enough reception from the home team crowds...in Tampa, NY (@ Shea), Chicago, St. Louis, and San Fran. It's about a love of the game, not some bullshit "those out of towners shouldn't be celebrating my team's misfortune" jive. BTW, St. Louis has the best fans in MLB....and the Mariners suck donkey schlong.
  7. Be well, do good work, and keep in touch. Maybe it was a taping of the writer's almanac.
  8. Damn, I thought Donny Baker was chillin in Spokane. I bet he stabbed that bear right to his face man.
  9. Try newenglandbouldering.com, NJ section: http://www.newenglandbouldering.com/newjersey/nj.html
  10. They ain't picky, but you'll need to be able to cover a few depths. I'd take what Trogdor reco's and add a hopper or two in the terrestrial selection, maybe a couple damsel nymphs and scuds, and a #8-#10ish beadhead wooly bugger in brown or black (because they cast much better than an unweighted wooly with shot on the leader)
  11. The crash should be pretty spectacular.

  13. Nice touch on the mountie accessories/details, but a little too obvious. I give it T2.
  14. Urban Dictionary says:
  15. It's a very odd dynamic with Iran threatening to retaliate if anyone messes with Syria. Syria is a secular sunni (Baathist) country with something like 90% of the population in that camp, whereas Iran is fundamentalist shiite. Not exactly ideological bretheren. Of course, Hizolla is a Shiite group and has a long history of fighting Israel in Lebanon. And Syria essentially occupied Lebanon during/after the lebanese civil war. Another odd element is that the oft cited reason Syria moved into Lebanon was to keep the christians there from being overrun. A seriously tangled web.
  16. Well, I figured this would happen sooner or later. Plame-Wilson to sue:
  17. We don't have any branches of WaMu up here, and I don't do PayPal at the moment. Any ideas?
  18. This episode brings up a VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION: Are you an REI member? Would you like to become one?
  19. Marmot Mtn Works in berkeley does good work for a reasonable price.
  20. Thanks Dru. I've been holding off on buying a copy for a couple of years, maybe it'll be out by the time I move back down there.
  21. Anyone know if a 3rd ed is going to be released anytime soon? Publisher doesn't have any info up on their site.
  22. A cursory examination of the population of Fairbanks would suggest otherwise.
