  1. White specs are dust on the scanner or neg/slide. I don't do Irfanview (use Photoshop 7), but in general a monitor is only capable of displaying about 72ppi (pixel/inch). If you are saving versions specifically for web display, anything larger than 72 ppi is wasted as far as quality goes. Clone stamp in PS is a very quick and easy way to clean up dust spots. I don't know if Irfanview has a similar tool, but Gary Yngve Malmsteen can maybe tell you.
  2. Heat can trigger nausea in some people, so can dehydration, especially combined with exertion.
  3. Surly. 3 month trip? Looks like you got ripped at the creek. Tell us about the Black. Scenic Cruise?
  4. Who's the homely chick in the beret?

  6. Premature esnafflation.
  7. Check out the Blue Note page, that's only a small sampling of the RVG remasters. http://www.bluenote.com/rvg_promo.asp
  8. Oh the flipside, the BlueNote RVG (Rudy Van Gelder) remasters sound great. RVG was the engineer at alot of the signature BlueNote sessions of the 50s/60s and he's been remastering the best of the catalog. The stuff they are putting out is awesome: Cannonball Adderly, Something Else Horace Silver, Song for my Father Dexter Gordon, GO Art Blakey, Moanin' Grant Green, Idle Moments Kenny Burrell, Midnight Blue Lee Morgan, The Sidewinder Sonny Rollins, A night at the Village Vanguard Sonny Clark, Sonny Clark Trio etc, etc. They've really been cranking up the pace of releases in this series lately. I've done an A/B listen with a couple of earlier CD releases and the new RVG versions and the difference is amazing. Maybe the 24bit mastering they are using is part of it.
  9. Post the pic or STFU egghead.
  10. Oh my, wingnuttia goes to the quiver and comes up with...Dan RATHER! I can guess what's next: Clinton's cock, CLINTON'S COCK! The Clenis is clearly the reason Gee-Dumbya couldn't be bothered to finish his committment of defending central Texas from the Viet Cong. Clearly.
  11. Get a clue people, Rove is cooperating with the prosecution to save his own porcine ass. Fairweather opines: "Once again, a GRAND JURY has determined that there is not enough evidence to bring Rove to trial " FALSE. A grand jury has made no such decision, nor voted on an indictment. The prosecuter has declined to seek charges...for now. From Time mag: "Luskin had just received a fax from Patrick Fitzgerald, the special counsel in the case, saying that he was formally notifying Luskin that absent any unexpected developments, he does not anticipate seeking any criminal charges against Rove." Which indicates pretty clearly that as long as fat boy continues to cooperate in the Libby case, which has yet to go to trial, Fitzgerald won't burn his ass. Otherwise all bets are off WRT Rover's legal jeopardy.
  12. The perfect butt floss for clipping bolts at Ton Sai, avoiding those pesky panty lines in the boardroom meeting, or just peaking out the top our organic hemp low rise jeans and framing your tramp stamp while sippin a half caf mochachino on the patio at Peet's.

    OLY!

Isn't there a PDX band called Funk Schweet?
  14. EDK w/foot long tails. DF is a bitch to untie and hangs on shit. Flemish bend (aka retraced 8s) has the same issues. Square with honkin backups has the same issues. A "flat 8", (which is like a EDK but using an 8 instead of overhand) is actually a dangerous knot as it will roll/invert on itself at relatively low forces.
  15. Don't know where they got mine (trash most likely), but someone acquired my Mastercard number, racked up $2000 in inkjet cartridges (WTF?) and another $250 at the Cocacola.com online store. Of course MC handled it, just had to fill out an affadavit form and get a new card #.
  16. Fremont Canyon. http://www.fremontcanyon.com/INTRO.html
  17. Bump. Three months later plans are solidifying. Leaving AK end of August, arriving PNW early Sept. Still looking for a housemate/roomate situation.
  18. Bouldering in about '99 or 2000, foothold breaks and all weight comes onto right shoulder. Hurt for a week or so, and residual pain in certain positions ever since then. Tried the bands exercises for rotator, didn't help. Never got a proper diagnosis. The pain is right between the anterior and medial delt near the head of the arm bone. Some pain or discomfort when levered (i.e. hand back, head of arm bone levers forward). A few years ago started doing military press on a machine and it helped alot. Almost no pain, and rare when climbing except when I stop doing the press workouts for a few months.
  19. good to reason to carry a piece at tieton.....22LR pistol with ratshot.
  20. Umm, yeah 4.6% while jobs came in this morning at 75k, which is half what's needed to offset population growth. Simple "unemployment" stat is meaningless without the context of labor force participation rate. And sell your Laffer curve BS somewhere else. It's way, way past the point that any remotely sentient beings take Laffer seriously. But why don't we let that known unhinged moonbat liberal Ben Stein! express thimself:
  21. A bit redundant ain't it. Uncle Crybaby and the Chief Nepotist. If it's any consolotation Squarebanks sucks harder.
  22. That blonde ain't no chick, that dudes a defenseman on the Montreal Canadiens. Respect the mullet bro.
  23. Girdwood? Fahq. What a hole.
  24. Coffee table book is WAY niche, a regional one even more so, requires top notch photography, and realistically it would take 5+ years to shoot enough for such a book. Go in a big box book retailer like B&N sometime and look at the blowout aisle...about half are coffee table books...Ireland, Classic cars, etc. Ask Harrison Shull about his last one. Fantastic project, but probably sold barely enough to break even on publishing costs.
