  1. Hahaahaahahaaha. Sounds like she needs a pet! LOL. TTT (fun stuff though)
  2. The real truth is AlpineK was seen running out of a Ballard convience store with a case of Red Bull (no surprise) and the show COPS filmed this and he was bithering something about being a climber not a crimer but the public didnt understand. A poll will be online on how and which method will be used to save this moderator. Details later. TTT
  3. I think Fred did a great job. He knows his stuff
  4. Sorry, was going to mention this....the van is not MRNP property, its Mikes. There could be confusion, thats all. TTT
  5. Yes Marek Honda Civics rule, or they will once this war thing is under way.....Sell your Suv's!
  6. Hey thanks for the update. I got a invite to go there tomorrow, instead I'll watch rally car racing on the speed channel. Funny about the SUV's, most people dont know how to drive them. Little cars rock TTT
  7. I wouldn't call it whining as much as discussion among grass roots believers that they are being socked with extra fees while snowmobiliers get away with a lot more and we all get stuck paying for stadiums every time we go out to a restaurant. Disclaimer: I pay the fees but get sick of getting nickel and dimed for it. Yes JBs idea of how the local area depends on outdoor ideas is good, but how about the fact that many local climbers have really made a differance in the world climbing community. TTT
  8. Even the lifts and trees are not entirely safe. The snow hasnt consolidated around trees. A guy just died at Crystal after he fell into a tree well and suffocated. Sad, and condolences.
  9. This is great. The mere fact that this one topic has so many of you steamed means there are literally hundreds more people of the same opinion. I wish there were an icon on here to show the can of worms I've opened with this query. FYI....I've started the phone calling process to do this story, but don't expect it to turn anytime soon. As Erik or Iain said, this is certainly something that will take a lot of groundwork before it makes it to the airwaves! I bet you could get a lot of information from people here. The amount of fees that climbers and or hikers spend could go as high as a few hundered dollars *edit*(see above post) if you count entrance fees and passes. Hikers and climbers pay just as much in taxes as other people do and then they get stuck paying extra for what is considered public lands. I think hikers/climbers got stuck with a lot of those fees because they may have seemed like easy targets and the budgets were slashed to the government agencies that administor the public lands. TTT
  10. What time? Say 7 or 7:30? Here's the info: Wedgewood Ale House & Cafe 8515 35th Avenue N.E., Seattle Phone: (206) 527-2676
  11. That looks like one of the vans they use on COPS when the're going to do a raid.

  14. I agree, there should be a post by one of the pub moderators at say 4:20 tuesday, or for what ever pubdate for that matter. And I thought this thread was going to be about the snow forcast , like solid snow forcasted Wednsday through the weekend. TTT
  15. Tim--Get to work. The freshies are predicted to fall hard wedsnday until the weekend. TTT
  16. I like reading trip reports, and liked reading this one because of hearing on the news it is really good to hear what was really happening. Trip reports are what make this site fun, and as for others calling it chestbeating, that is mostly b.s. I was wondering what really happened after all hubhub on the news and glad you wrote it. Yes a trip report on a route everyone is on is boring or if it is long, I skip it. It becomes chestbeating if others are out doing the same route and the poster is saying they did it better than everyone else. TTT
  17. I believe you, I have done my share of postholing, but most times I have been up to Muir it is windblown or frozen. It just took us almost twice as long as we hoped for. By your trip report it sounded really bad, was the Ingraham the same coming down (always easier to posthole going down) or was it more consolidated? TTT

What is the US size conversion?
  19. That was one of the hardest trailbreaking I have done to Muir. If it wasnt for my lurker friends (Kevin and Jim) it would have been harder. That sunset up there was great and a kind NPS employee left us the combo to get past the gate. Where did you guys park? It looked like we were the only car in the upper lot. Nice TR TTT
  20. I think the Easton glacier eats atleast one of those machines a year. I saw one narrowly escape while a snow bridge collapsed right under him. Told the sledders at the trailhead and it was like "wow! no way, you're bullshitting us, there are cravesses up there but we just go around them"-as they were strapping a 12 pack of Schmit on the back of the sleds. Sadly I think that the highmarking on the railroad grade does sometimes cause avalanches on them, and I think one died up there a few years back. I remember the survivors said that they were just having a little fun. Maybe they should get licenses or pass some basic test-sure I may get flamed for even mentioning this. I dont mind the 4 stroke sleds as much and even provide a lot of use for cabins, climbs or approaches and seem more courteous. TTT
  21. TTT, you're a murderator, bump the fool FDA down and take your rightful place at pagetop. Jon and Tim didnt give me the keys for the spray section. I vote Muffy!
