I'd love to get out with you Rad (and Brandon!). I'm a Si newbie and am psyched to spend lots of time there this year.

My ticks list are always exceedingly ambitious but I feel it's the best way to stay focused and remind myself that there is no limit.

Props to boulder-people because it seems like hard shit, but that's funny!

Locally I want to make it to the LTW more often and send at least one of the classic 5.12 routes. I'd also like to redpoint some of the Leavenworth Classics:

No Such Thing

Shriek of the Mutilated

Ruthless

Supercrack

Onsight Edge of Space, Der Sportsman

Convince someone to climb Let It Burn or Thin Red Line - or do either again.

Learn to boulder, and onsight V3 (locally) consistently.

Have my wife ropegun me on Outer Space

Ropegun my wife up the North Ridge on Stuart

Redpoint Moonlight Buttress

Climb Rainbow Country or the Cloud Tower/Rainbow Wall Linkup

Climb Velvet Tongue, the start to a long-tem Red Rock goal

Make a solo ascent in the winter in the cascades

Get up a mountain in Pakistan

Way OT but when I first glanced at the title I thought it said "goats and dreams" and thought what the hell?? Okay my goal ... get my eyes checked again obviously my bifocals are not working. Oh and may be climb some thing classic like the Chouinard-Becky or Liberty Bell.

Nice to see you have some ambitions, a little room to grow. You've got the jaded rude poser thing down pretty pat, time to stop resting on your laurels and up your game a notch.

grousing about spray after:

A) logging onto cc.com

B) Clicking the thread about 2012 goals

That's kinda like going to the food co-op and hanging around in the tofu aisle just to complain that you're surrounded by vegan hippies.

I don't see any blatant chest beating; just a bunch of guys who are stoked on the activity that they've dedicated a huge part of their lives to talking about where they want to take it next. I know a lot of these guys and know that their lists are reasonable for their level of experience. It doesn't always work out that you get around to doing everything that you want to in a year, but one should keep in mind the old saying about shooting for the stars and hitting the moon or whatever.

As for me, I'm worried that if I made a list I'd jinx it and get hurt or something. I have bad luck like that. My goals are to not hurt myself too bad, go back to Alaska, do some stuff wherever the weather allows it this winter, and take steps in the direction of finding some steady source of income that gives me some free time and doesn't crush my soul. Basically the same goals I had last year I guess.

And some people say that the world will end on Dec 21st, so I'll probably try to party hard for a few days before that just to cover my bases.

5.7? 5.9? 5.12? 5.14? Who cares? Grades don't matter.

It's about passion, perseverance, and personal growth.

Those who set ambitious goals and dedicate themselves to trying to achieve them just might, against all odds, succeed.

Those who don't surely won't.

.............................................

We're just sharing the stoke here.

I hope you find fulfillment in pursuing your own dreams, whatever they may be.

Peace.

Now that DREP has been put in his places I'll put down my (modest) goals.

Liberty Ridge on Rainier.

North Face of Hood.

North Face of Dragontail.

Something hard in the alpine of the Enchantments.

Some hard ski descents.

Begin thinking about Alaska.

Lead WI 4/5 solidly.

Establish at least one more mixed route.

Continue leading 5.11's on gear.

Send more 5.12's on TR.

Get more people into climbing including my gf.

Have fun!

Have my wife ropegun me on Outer Space

Ropegun my wife up the North Ridge on Stuart

I did both of these sometime back and it was some of the most rewarding climbing!

Next stop is ropegunning my wife up NEB Slesse.

My own goals for 2012

* Spend less time at work.

* Abandon running and do more hikes of Tiger, Si, Granite to say in shape.

* Lead more roped pitches than last year (which was like 4, seems achievable!)

* Sail less and family camp/climb more. Considering I have 2 ocean races and Melges 24 Nats planned I am not sure how this will happen???

* Grind out some elevation with some skins on, ski the freshiez.

* Spend more time with friends in 2012

Post poor quality photos on said blog with over sized caption of my name at the bottom so everyone knows that I suck at photography.... Just trying to get with the times around here.

Funny you should mention that because I used to do that at the Co-op in Bozeman all the time!
