G-spotter Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 That's what happens when you send Vader to serve the Emperor. Quote
DirtyHarry Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Ha. I had to live in DC for a few months too. It does suck. At least you can go bouldering at Carder Rock and take weekend trips to Seneca. Quote
ivan Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 seneca fucking rocks, as do the (free) musuems available at every turn Quote
Skeezix Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Seneca does indeed rock. Cue obligatory Seneca pron. Quote
snugtop Posted April 9, 2009 Author Posted April 9, 2009 Y'all are making me feel a teensy bit better. But after 9 years in Washington and a year in Boulder I'm not feeling the love...Went to Shenandoah last weekend and it was a sorry trip Quote
Hugh Conway Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 There's this amazing thing called "culture" there. You know, art, museums, interesting people. The shit Seattle pretends it has and the trustafarians in Boulder are fleeing. Quote

Jim Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Commuted to D.C. via train from near Harper's Ferry for two years, then lived in the District for a year. While that was enough - there a lot you should take advantage of while there: Great free museums, music, lectures, films. The Florida Grill -if it is still there Ethopian food in my old neighborhood - Adams Morgan. Good bouldering on rock wall along C&O canal in Georgetown Great paddling and smallmouth bass fishing in upper Potomic. Seneca, Seneca, Seneca! 'cept the Gendarme is long gone. Take the drive to the Gunks - about 7 hrs. W.VA has great hiking - Dolly Sods, Cannan Valley. Closer to home - climbing at Great Falls then go for a swim while avoiding the helicopter patrols of the NPS - makes you feel like a Navy Seal. While you will have to drive a bit more there are some cool places. And D.C. is a very interesting cultural experience. Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Embrace the East Coast thing and Hook up with some sailors and sail the DelMarVa peninsula/Chesapeake Bay. Annapolis is a good base of operations for that. Take up squash. Quote
