AlpineK Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 I like Washington, Jefferson, and the rest, but some new faces on money would be nice. Â Plus I've got buckets of pennies at home, and a separate jar of Canadian money. Â One currency Quote
MarkMcJizzy Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Normally I would say that this is all just a bunch of Bullshit. I mean, why would a country that in their singularity comprises greater than 25% of the worlds economy want their currency tied to economies that they dwarf by factors of ten (Canada), and almost 16 (Mexico)? But then I see the sources, the well known WorldNetDaily, and BankIntroductions.Com , and I seriously begin to wonder. I'm sure that those financial wizards Feck and DeChristo are already liquidated their fortunes, in preparation for investing in the Amero. Quote
G-spotter Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Why the fuck would Canada and Mexico basically dollarize? That's for third world countries. Â Plus right now the was the US dollar is falling in world markets is scary. You guys may not notice it but you have lost more than half your net worth in the last few years thanks to GWBs failed economy. Pretty soon the US dollar will be trading at par with Zimbabwe's. Quote
AlpineK Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Hey man if you get a traffic ticket in Canada you either go to the bank and get a check in Canadian currency to pay the fine. If you are too lazy to get an exchange you send them US funds and Canadian government gets the profit to keep, or sends you another bill and charges you for late payment. Quote

AlpineK Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 If I remember right you had to pay a recent traffic fine in Canada. The exchange rate was in the US favor, but you were too lazy to get Canadian money and gave Canada a free bonus by sending US currency. Quote
MarkMcJizzy Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 I get alot of tickets in Canada, I like the place, and my shitty driving isn't reported to my insurance carrier. So, I have reconsidered my stand, and I am all for the Amero Quote

G-spotter Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 How much of the rise in oil prices can be traced to the fall of the dollar and the oil pricing in US dollars? Quote
JosephH Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Mexico is in the oil business and if that switches to the EU as now seems likely, then Mexico would be hard pressed to not follow suit - if they were so inclined to incur all the hassle of using another currency, which I doubt. But, another eight years of an administration like this one and we'll all be using the Renminbi. Quote

ClimbingPanther Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Why don't we hear more about how big of a deal the dwindling exchange rate is? Seriously, I don't think anybody really thinks about it but it is killing our collective worth in the world. Maybe because it takes a delayed toll on us, we haven't had to face the real consequences yet, so nobody cares. I don't really understand the complex issues that underlie it, but it bothers me. We've lost what, about 5-10% annually for the past few years? Consider the enormity of the net worth of every asset currently in US dollars, and how much 5-10% a year is, and you quickly realize the magnitude of the problem. Quote
