Rastus Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Finally climb some stuff that has been on the "list" for a few years, get out with some new people, and keep improving the skillz. Quote
fenderfour Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 3 weeks vacation + a new car - all teaching obligations + an itch to go to Yosemite --------------------------- I will fall off some cool shit in California. Quote
olyclimber Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 a little septic shock and a broken tib/fib...a month in the hospital and the joy of a catheter...in all a smashing success. i even got to go climbing in between my "medical experiences". Quote
BillA Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 I didn't end up in the ER once this year. But there's still a month left. Quote
RuMR Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 1. Be a better crack climber. (Get ass into shape) 2. Lead Japanese Gardens and Toxic Shock. (I love Index) 3. Complete a big wall climb (to make up for this year's failed effort). I'm gonna chop that lower bit on JG just to rain on yer parade! HAHAHAHA Quote
K^2 Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Fuhrer Finger: both weekends I set aside had crap weather. Putting it on the list for 2008. Quote
RuMR Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Learn to climb with children. please share w/ me any secrets you discover... Why, do you have kids? 2 - had a significantly harder time getting out last year, in part b/c my son was so young - the year before though when it was just my daugher was wild fun though so i'm hopeful it'll get better soon RuMR seems to have succeeded in the kids/climbing venture. make no mistake, personal climbing goes waaaay down...kids are climbing a ton, but me, not so much these days...but, you know, i get as stoked on them climbing well as i do myself...its rad to watch them develop... RuMR Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 its even a tear jerker when your kid says "later dad" and runs out of the house to climb with YOUR buddies while you are doing "honey-do's" and yardwork... Quote
ivan Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 its even a tear jerker when your kid says "later dad" and runs out of the house to climb with YOUR buddies while you are doing "honey-do's" and yardwork... i've turned my yard into a wilderness preserve and my wife doesn't generally ask me to do things i haven't already figured out i need to do first - a great woman, if not more than a little crazy too! anyway, i got a lot of vertical feet in this past year so can't complain 'bout much 'cept suffering the infernal virginia heat for a whole month out of the summer. alpine climbing's suffered the most out of everything, but it's coming back in a big way... Quote
RuMR Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 hahahaha virginia in the summer...hahahahaha now that's funny... Quote

Quote
RuMR Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Obviously, you don't know what you're talkin' about... 2-5 year olds generally suck...they start to whine after about 45 seconds and consequently lube themselves up and fall out...self cleaning, yes, but not very secure...quite unnerving actually... Sherri Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 So you're saying that if I had kids I'd have a better rack? Quote
selkirk Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 And with a sufficiently large rack aren't offwidths and chimneys self protecting? Quote
RuMR Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 So you're saying that if I had kids I'd have a better rack? Well, definitely right after birth the rack gets bigger...errrr, guess you were talkin' a different rack, huh?? Quote
minx Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 And with a sufficiently large rack aren't offwidths and chimneys self protecting? I love offwidths Rumr-- that's why they have BigBros... to beat the little bros until they stay put Quote
