rat Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 the gate is locked at bridge creek campground. plan accordingly if headed to colchuck or stuart areas early season. Quote
Already_on_Top Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 (edited) There is a mud slide a 1 1/2 miles up the road. Up to 10 feet deep. It didn't wash out, just covered the road. Edited November 23, 2006 by Already_on_Top Quote
faster_than_you Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 There is a mud side a 1 1/2 miles up the road. Up to 10 feet deep. It didn't wash out, just covered the road. Â Sure did! Quote
ericb Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Still gated @ the bridge? Â It was'nt officially gated two weeks ago but a big snow berm blocked access, and there's also a landslide/avalanche about 1.5 miles up blocking the road so this might delay access for a while. Quote
ericb Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 thanks. where was the berm @? the bridge? Â right off icicle creek road, so before the bridge. Quote
alpineyeti Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 kevino, any chance one can drive by (over ) the debris flow blocking the road? Â Anyone know if they plan on fixing the road this year? (Assuming that it was a slide rather than avi....) Quote
kevino Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 How big is your car? Or should I say truck? A couple of the slides are pretty mellow, one is a lot bigger - I'm thinking up up to 50 degree angle up and down. Kind of like large moguls if that makes sense. There is also a tree that takes up a good 1/2 to 2/3 of the road, but its not that big. Perhaps someone else with better memory can help. Â I was up there last week and parts of the road of the first mile or so were bare to the ground. But it was also dumping snow when I was leaving and haven't been back since. Quote
jordansahls Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 I was up in the area just a few days ago, no hope for a few more weeks. I ended up going up the snow creek trail, but had to turn around due to massive avalanche activity. Quote
bwrts Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 the road is not accessible for motor vehicles unless you are driving a snow mobile or atv. Quote
Dane Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 As of today there is still a good 2 feet of snow on the bridge. Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 It's an avi, not a slide, so it will melt out on its own. Little road repair will be required. You will not be able to drive around/over it right now, and the gate was still locked as of Thu last week, plus there's still too much snow. Quote
ivan Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 i'd imagine the road will be open by the end of the month, but cna't imagine it being much earlier Quote
woodchips Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Any updates? Any speculation as to conditions this weekend? Quote
Tom_Sjolseth Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 It's within a week or two of melting out. Steady snow doesn't start until just before the bridge, ~1 mile before the TH. It is mountain bikeable to there. Snow in the parking lot is about 12"-18" deep. The aforementioned slide is no longer a factor. This info is from a trip I made 4/20-21. Quote
kevino Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Pretty much clear for 2 to 2.5 miles. Then its discontinuous snow until the bridge, then its just soft snow from their until the TH. It was about 1.5 feet at the bridge, couple feet at the TH. Trail to junction is nice and packed. Quote
John Frieh Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Anybody know if Mountaineer Creek Road is open yet? Quote
