Off_White Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Marko, the last time the question came up, I was left with the impression that the Preiss route and IB didn't have much overlap. Do you have access to any photos with both lines drawn on them?
motomagik Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Alpine1 - Don't listen to the nay-sayers. Infinite Bliss is wonderful fun. Yes it has bolts to protect the face/slab climbing (aaagghh!! God forbid!!! Let us all burn in hell) but it is certainly not a sport route. I recommend being comfortable at the grade because of the runouts, and be careful with your routefinding on pitch 15. If you use the search function you will find the topo that I used, and that's all the info you need. Furthermore, I think there is enough climbing in the Cascades to go around for everyone, I don't understand why we have to be so hateful towards a great route that wouldn't be available otherwise. JosephH you are right, we don't want you on it, because you're a dink. Take your Holier-Than-Thou bs somewhere else.
jmace Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Talk = Action? Ideally..yes like this Im gonna punch you out...then I punch you out nothing against you just an example
DirtyHarry Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 I don't understand why we have to be so hateful towards a great route that wouldn't be available otherwise. Slippery slope, motherfucker, slippery slope.
Off_White Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 (edited) Not to quibble with you Dru, but shouldn't that be Talk+Action = 1? Oh, and lets all take a chill pill and not be getting all dink this and motherfucker that, with a punch in the mouth thrown in, mmmkay? Edited June 14, 2006 by Off_White
John Frieh Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Even more digression: The solution of Johnny Blitz' equation has alway kinda bugged me: Talk - Action = Zilch... So what then, Talk = Action? What it was meant to represent is back up what you say you are going to do. Additionally (and the main point of the equation) is don't over talk a route or give any more discussion to something you climbed then the climb merits. I believe Blitz's comments were aimed at particular FAs that were sprayed about way more than the route actually deserved in mags, etc as the climbers were trying to appease sponsors among other things. Yeah mathematically if fails but its more meant as a simple one liner response that has semi morphed into the tag line for the brotherhood. Blitz makes a great point IMO.
ivan Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 the brotherhood? that's gay. yeah - didn't you know this was gay bulletin board for swingers?
archenemy Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 the brotherhood? that's gay. Glad I wasn't the only one with that reaction.
John Frieh Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 the brotherhood? that's gay. Steve will be at Patagonia tonight in PDX... you should show up and tell him that.
John Frieh Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 He'd probably agree that you sound like you are from Colorado
DirtyHarry Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 I'll be in town and don't have time for trad can I have some beta on Infinite Bliss?
G-spotter Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Not to quibble with you Dru, but shouldn't that be Talk+Action = 1? JEEZUS! Even Gary Yngivitis knows that if Talk - Action = Zero then Talk + Action = Doubletalk.
G-spotter Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Which doesn't preclude Talk + Action = 1, but if and only if the value of talk = 0.5 BTW
Choada_Boy Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Joeseph: You sound really hardcore. My bad. You'd better stay away from the route. It's clearly in everyone's best interest. ...and Johnny Blitz?? I thought it was Polish Bob!!!
Choada_Boy Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Let Talk = Action Since Talk = Action, therefore Talk - Action = 0, and Infinite Bliss just got chopped HARDCORE!
dan_forester Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 is the climber talking the most about getting action the one having the most fun...?
Marko Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 OW, I'll see if I can dig a couple route photos up. John, Yep, I figured all that, and I absolutely agree with the intent. But it seems a bit odd that someone as meticulous and conscious of details as Twight would publicize a comment that falls apart when you take a second look at it. Of course I don't have any better ideas so I suppose this is an example of talk without action... -M
G-spotter Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 C'mon dude do you think Twight invented that... it's a DOA album from the 80s.
Dechristo Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 I need to pee. So, in this case, talk - action still equals #1.
